I did the same thing! In a way I kind of wish I hadn't now. But really, I never liked the look of that ring. It was big and clunky. Not pretty at all. The rings which they previously had were very nice --- streamlined and tailored looking. I don't remember what I got for it but I do remember that I was quite pleased ,as it was a very heavy and solid piece of gold.

I still have mine (graduated in 1979) and I was with my great aunt and uncle a couple of years ago, and they still had theirs (graduated in the mid 40's).

I think a lot of kids don't bother anymore, but I made sure my son got one. I think it is a nice tradition.

Never bought one! I was sooo glad to get out of high school.

My college was a nest of bohemians and there were no rings available. I was on to grad school anyway where I not only had no ring, I didn't attend graduation. I had already gotten a job in a distant state.
