Re: CBS story on Wounded warrior Project

My sister always says....if you want to run a successful scam, put the Veterans and Service Men and Women in the title, or any topic that pulls at the heartstrings.  It is so unfortunate but so true. We the people are actually very giving.  I absolutely do not donate to any charily anymore.  I find actual PEOPLE in my area to assist.  I donate money, meals, time, and transportation to individuals in need.   I know exactly where my money is going and it is not to pay big name spokespeople, political contributions, travel, etc.  Very rewarding!

I just changed my charity on Amazon Smile.  I chose Wounded Warriors on Amazon so long ago I forgot about it.  Now, it's Fisher House - 96.87 with Charity Navigator.

Well I wont donate to them and since I wont watch a certain network that thinks they run the world I wont see their commercials.

I was at a luncheon yesterday with a friend whose husband worked for years with the Red Cross. She traveled the world with him on assignments and the work that this women did as a volunteer and the places and things she saw concerning our young vets is horrific. She and the Red Cross have my respect for a lot of work they do that goes unnoticed.

if you are interested in another charity that benefits veterans you may want to check out CATCH A LIFT.

I've given to WWP in the past, it's very disappointing to hear that only 60% goes to the veterans.  I'm trying to be more aware of charities like this one and I have been starting to donate to more local charities.

Re: CBS story on Wounded warrior Project

I had just heard rumblings about this, and will investigate further.

It saddens me on many levels. There are some big name celebrities that lend their name and weight to this organization, and many of them I have respect for. I hope they didn't have a clue about this, assuming that the report is accurate.

I think if we can put aid directly into somone's hand, it is much more efficient than trusting some of these charities. I know there are many that do a good job making sure the bulk of the funds get where they are supposed to, but we just can't seem to take for granted that a good cause is always being administered properly, even when they seem to have a good name.
