@cheriere,
You have that promise in writing?? I tend to be like you and hate to make a scene, but you need to let a "higher up" know. Or Lincoln corporate, or someone at your local TV station who helps consumers. Good luck. Unfortunately, this can be common among us women.

@cheriere   When you take your car back in to have the passenger sensor replaced, see how long it takes them to replace it.  If it is less time than originally charged for labor demand a refund for that amount of labor.  You should only have to pay for the amount of time it takes them to replace the one they were supposed to.

you pretty much NEVER get charged for how long it actually takes to fix an issue, especially if you go to a dealership for repairs. you are charged for what "the book" says. if "the book" says four hours, then you are charged generally four hours, even if it only took them two hours to fix.

@cheriere id think since youve already paid for the part and labor, you wouldnt have to pay again since they fixed tge wring one. Look into that.

@cheriere

Your Dad was right!

A quick story, I couldn't sleep one night, so I walked outside and my neighbor across the street's almost new truck which was parked under his carport, literally burst into flames!

I banged on his door until he finally woke up and the fire dept. arrived.

He was told that it was an electrical fire. with damage done to the truck and his house, since it was an attached carport.

I wondered if that's why I couldn't sleep that night, sensing imminent danger.

Glad you listened to Dad!Heart

IMO..If the mechanic made the mistake..you shouldn't have to pay for the other part or labor to install the correct part.

@cheriere  I hope you won't have to pay for the installation of the correct sensor.

My last appt was for a battery change.  My long-time service writer told me he fit me in and it would probably be a day.......so I rented a car. It was just long enough for me to drive home, stay an hour, and drive back.  It's about 40 min to the dealership.

Picked up my car and the portable battery charger I had in the front seat was out of it's bag, along with all the cables.  I was so upset that they tech went thru my stuff. Got home and it turned out they were my cables, but the battery charger belonged to the technician - mine was still in the bag.

@cheriere There is nothing worse than sitting at a car repair shop for hours and then they replace the wrong thing. If they have charged you for labor then they should wave the charge when they replace the correct part. Woman Frustrated

I agree she should not have to pay for their incompetance.  Honestly, I read several of these comments and it is disturbing how distrustful everyone is of dealerships.  As one person said jobs are usually billed out at a flat rate and mechanics often work flat rate.  You are billed that rate and a mechanic is paid that rate also.  If they do it quicker they make out, if they screw up and have a "come back" they have to do it and not get paid so they do not want "come backs."   These job rates come down from the manufacturer and not the individual dealershps.

My one compaint is a dealer who always gave great service but they would always warn me of a "safety" issue.. i.e. you need brakes.  I believe they figured that would scare me into it but the state I lived in had annual inspections and I had just had it inspected so I knew this wasn't the case.  They again told me the same thing the next time I went in.  I never purchased another car from them.
