I've been thinking about tasers since it was mentioned earlier on this line that they weren't that effective.

Tasers are often used by LE in SF, some might say too often and too much.  Nonetheless, they are very effective.

Very, very sad.  We know folks who have been telling their teenage kids (boys), to drop everything and raise their hands, just in case they are stopped/questioned.  And to definitely do not run.  Just for their own sake(s). .........  As a side note: In fact, about twenty or more years ago, a friend and I were walking around one dark evening, and a PO drove up along side of us, saying that there have been reports of someone setting off fire crackers in the neighborhood.  Asking us if we have seen anyone loitering around, etc.  We said no, told him where we live, and  because we were all bundled up in hooded jackets, as a nice gesture, we opened our jackets to show that we didn't have any fire crackers/ fireworks on us.   'Just to set the record straight'.     ........ Of course, an elderly person (possibly) might not think of dropping his/her handbag, crucifix, or whatever else he/she is carrying.    EDITED:  May this gentleman RIP.  And very sorry for his family members and for all concerned.

@Noel7  I think she is speaking of the young man that was shot in the chest, as he brandished a knife toward other students

Thanks, I got lost in the comments, ROMARY said she hoped this gentleman recovered, I thought she meant Francisco Serna.

Thanks, Noel.  It was in my mind that he was deceased, but then I read that he (someone else, it turns out) was in critical condition and then I thought that I was mistaken, etc., etc.   I'll edit.

Thanks for clarifying @ROMARY .  I'm having lunch, daughter called to tell me about an event where she is AND sent me a photo of it, the cat got into a bag of Christmas presents, and DH was trying to catch the cat to take her in the kitchen with him.

All at the same time, no wonder I got confused, too Smiley Happy
