Re: Bye Bye Redbook (PRINT) Magazine

I used to subscribe to several magazines but stopped them all when they were nothing but ads.  What articles there were we silly and assinine.  To me anyway.

I feel all magazines led to their own  demize.

I've been wondering where my January issue of REDBOOK magazine was.

I went online to get their CS number only to find out that after January 2019, they'll no longer have a print magazine. Another one bites the dust.  Smiley Sad

My subscription doesn't run out until this May - I hope I get a refund. What really ticks me off is that I never received ANY notification that the print magazine was going to end.

This article was dated October 11, 2018

Hearst announced yesterday that 115-year-old Redbook would cease print publication in January of 2019, becoming a digital-only brand.

Just last week, the New York Post reported that many speculated the closure of the print edition was coming, particularly since the role of editor-in-chief had been left empty following Meredith Rollins exit last year. Hearst had published the title for the past 35 years.

The latest of the Seven Sisters to cease regular publication — McCall’s shuttered in 2002 and Ladies’ Home Journal stopped monthly publication and became a special interest title in 2014 — Redbook’s transition comes as Hearst adopts a digital future.

Re: Bye Bye Redbook (PRINT) Magazine

I spent about 45 minutes last night trying to find a contact for Redbook's CS.  Every single link has been disabled.

I went into one of my other subscriptions from the Hearst Corporation and couldn't even get one of those to work.  As others have said, I wonder if they're going to fold even more magazines.

I paid for my two-year renewal with a CC, so I'm going to contact them about a refund.  Disgusting on the part of Hearst Corporation to be schilling for renewals, when they must've known what was in the pipeline.  I won't be renewing any magazines, when they run out.  At least my home will have less paper clutter.

Re: Bye Bye Redbook (PRINT) Magazine

Thank you so much for letting us know lmt. Redbook is the only magazine I subscribe to (Got it for free somehow). I'm willing to bet that they'll just start sending us some other magazine we won't be interested in.

Re: Bye Bye Redbook (PRINT) Magazine

I've never gotten a refund when a magazine has folded - I've never even had the option. They've always substituted another magazine.

Once I actually got a choice between a few magazines as a substitution. This was years ago; I think it was when Ladies Home Journal folded. For all the other times, the magazines would send whatever substitution they wanted.

Re: Bye Bye Redbook (PRINT) Magazine

I also subscribed to Cooking Light for a few years and that one also ended at the end of 2018.  They sent a letter that the subscription would be transferred to another magazine.

When you pay for a subscription and they stop distributing the magazine, it would be nice if you received a refund.

Does Redbook digital copy require a subscription or is it free?  If it isn't free would your remaining one transfer over.  Although I prefer a paper copy to an online version myself.

Re: Bye Bye Redbook (PRINT) Magazine

I received several magazines over the years that I never subscribed to. I assume I purchased something that brought a magazine suscription to my order. I haven’t subscribed to anything on my own for quite some time since I know that magazines will soon be remnants of the past, like malls and brick & mortar stores. It’s certainly sad but we cannot fight progress.

Re: Bye Bye Redbook (PRINT) Magazine

There are days when I want to come home and relax by myself with a PRINTED magazine I enjoy. That is becoming harder and harder to do.

I still miss More, and other magazines when they talked about fashion, beauty, and women's issues only,  and there was more content than ads. Smiley Sad

Re: Bye Bye Redbook (PRINT) Magazine

WOW, this is so disappointing. I did not know about this. Redbook was one of my favorites.

I have always LOVED magazines and subscribed to many.

They have been getting very thin though lately. Sad to see.

I will never go online to read them. I prefer to hold them in my hands.

I had a subscription to Glamour which just ended, and I never heard anything from them about it either.

I really want refunds for these things.

Thanks for the info, but sorry to hear about this.
