When I was a substitute teacher I saw just the opposite.  Teachers were dressed and behaved professionally.  I have teachers in my family and friends who teach.  They all adhere to a dress code at work.  They work in different school districts and several states.  The have an approved curriculum that they teach from.

I don't understand this "everything goes" comment.

This is just fake outrage bait. It is intended to make you think that you should get upset about topics that are none of your business AND that you have zero control over. Completely disempowering.

When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.

So is business work attire a thing of the past? I work in a school as long as you wear clothes anything goes. I was in Macys today, I was near the workers entrance and saw one woman dressed like she was going to the gym dressed in a crop top and biker shorts, another woman wore a kind of a tank dress that was way too short! I get casual Friday but seems like it is very casual everyday.

Granted it's been a few years when I worked part time in the mall but all Macy's "floor" employees had to wear all black.   Black top, black slacks or skirt, men & women.   You may not have seen employees on the clock.

Great if they do it, but it's not required for anything.

The posts that are hyperventilating about the clothing choices of some random teacher or stranger they saw outside a Macys. The idea that we (women especially) need to fashion police and cancel other people because of their outfits -- is completely disempowering because it is a losing game and a giant waste of time and energy. As are pretty much all of the fake culture wars.

I'm not even sure what "all of the fake culture wars" actually means, but clearly it's got you all upset.  Wow.

Dress codes and fashion guidelines can often be empowering ... or at least re-assurring.

Example ....  If you were invited to a very special, dressy event, wouldn't you want to dress appropriately?  If everyone is dressed in gowns and tuxedos, someone attending in shorts and flip flops isn't making a silly statement dressing like everyone else so that they won't be "disempowered".  They will just look stupid.
