@brandiwine   Your arguments and other like ones posted here remind me of a certain man who always said as he fired people on his show: "it's not personal, it's business."  And we all know about his ethics, don't we?

@zitawins

Yes, I know about his ethics, he did not hide who he was from the people. Too bad we can't say the same about this guy! He won't fire anyone, in spite of their publicly shown utter incompetence.

Say what @zitawins?

@zitawins  If you had taken the time to read my entire post you would have seen where I personally think it was handled very poorly.  The only thing that matters to corporate America is how much money they make.  I agree with you it sounds like something that came out of someone's mouth with no morals or ethics, but the sad fact is that's it's reality.  I feel very bad whenever someone has worked for a company for a long time is let go.  I think this is just the tip of the iceberg at the Q.

For QVC this was a business decision.  These two are close to the highest paid due to seniority.  They aren't your "friends" they are people hired to get you to buy stuff.  Everyone is replaceable.  My suggestion is to show your anger by not shopping here.  Such an easy solution and will get the Q's attention as sales go down.  My personal opinion is they handled this very poorly.  If I were Rick, JT, Mary Beth, and Pat, I'd be looking over my shoulder all the time.

Tenure/Contract is an assumption, but it could be true.  We don't know the seniority and details.  We speculate.  Between at least five of the long timers do we know who which person[s] have been here the longest?  Jane T, Leah Williams, Mary Beth Roe, Dan and Carolyn.  Who has been here the longest?

It could be behavior off camera

Could have been their Sales

It could be they decided the last time layoffs happened and were spared, they would seek to leave on good terms the next go round (we don't know)

Could have been ageism

Could have been a lot of things, but we are not privy to the reasons unless we are the ones who hire and fire.

@brandiwine

I worked for a very large company for 33 years. They offered a buyout and I put in the paperwork requesting it.

My boss came up to me at 3pm and told me I got the buyout. He also told me to turn in my ID and not come back in the morning. My quitting time was 4pm.

With that same company, after working there for 33 years? My retirement pay grade was 2 pay levels lower than when I started with the company.

Most hourly factory workers got the same send off. But the Salaried Office Workers accepting the same type of a buyout? They got 1 weeks notice and farewell luncheon parties.

And I retired in 1991, not 2023

I really don't care how they try to spin this; unwise business decisions still impact people.  And, in this case, loyal, dedicated employees.  Not sure what TPTB are looking for, but, here's an example of what doesn't work:

Last night I wasn't feeling well and was flipping thru channels trying to find something to listen to.  Main channel at midnight was a huge NO.  Found something on PBS.  At 1 I flipped thru again.  A newer host and 2 models were previewing upcoming show items.  About 7 or 8 minutes in.....in pranced JT, talking over them, to say what she had already purchased!!!  She went straight to the background set and started pulling items off the display.  How unprofessional and downright rude!!!  I changed the channel.

QVC, what are you thinking??????

The less people shop here the lower sales will go and possibly more people will be laid-off, contributing to the very thing you are angry about.

The only way to show your displeasure is with your credit card or check book.....
