Re: Bulletin--All LA schools closed

It is a very fine line that divides the choice of which action to take. I think New York City is much more prepared to assess these threats because they have had to be.

Re: Bulletin--All LA schools closed

My comments about today's news conference by the officials in Los Angeles was removed?

That post was very much on topic and no one else was quoted. LA officials are to be commended for their actions.

I agree. The subway worries though...the flooding that could occur would be devastating.

Everyone needs to be aware...but I admire NYC for moving forward...reminds me of Israel, another popular target where people never give in to fear.

I hope  you are not implying that officials in Los Angeles gave into fear? The Superintendent used to be in that same or similar position in NYC.

Los Angeles officials were being cautious and with an abundance of caution. I would rather it be so than to find out the hard was that it was NOT a hoax.

I believe the schools in NYC are run differently than in Los Angeles.  Do the schools in NYC fall under the mayor's office? The do NOT in Los Angeles. The school district is separate from the city. Those decisions are made by the LA Superintendent upon asking for and receiving advice. But he runs the show, not the mayor.

NYC got the exact same threat, determined that it was a hoax and life moved on.

I don't understand the need for NYC to be criticizing LA's decision on this.  What I do find annoying and totally unnecessary is the nonstop coverage that this is receiving:/

The more publicity and the more alarm...the more likely another German troll will try this again!

The question is that If NYC handled it one way and discovered that it was a hoax pretty quickly- why can't LA do the same?
