It’s unbelievable to me that people still believe that a woman’s breast is something objectionable.

A woman feeding her child should be considered touching that’s what she is for, to feed her child.  Thenthe same folks don’t have any trouble going to R-rated movies and seeing people getting hacked to death.  I guess we need another hundred years. Amazing.

@Bhvbum

I really don't believe anyone here is against breastfeeding.  This is about appropriate "time and place".  If a person or persons does anything that makes everyone around them uncomfortable (to the point of complaining to management) it should be stopped.

If this was REALLY about just breastfeeding, the woman could throw a small blanket over her shoulder  ....  that's what many women do.

My sister had a friend who breastfed in public every chance she got.    She seemed to enjoy the attention, but I thought it was a bit weird.   JMO

I thinik slings are a very good idea. It is a very private way to nurse, if you are out in public

I bought one for one of my young friends ,and the first thing she told  me, was that

LOL ... I was thinking the same thing.    Woman LOL

If a person dropped their drawers and did a bowel movement in a public place, I'm pretty sure people would quickly complain .... although BM's are also "completely natural".

Feeding an infant is not against the law. The scenario you are describing @Tinkrbl44 is against the law and there is really no comparison.

These days we are subjected to all sorts of highly sexual bare boobage and cleavage on a daily basis, old and young, the "girls" are on display wherever you go. when non-sexualized breasts are being used for their intended purpose women are shamed.

A little more public shame would take care of a lot of issues and problems today.  Like shame on people that don't support their families; people who prey on others at work; people who steal packages, etc.   Big shame and little shame--it's about respect for others.  And to me this breastfeeding is simply a lack of respect for those around you.

@Sooner

???    I'm not sure the answer to most problems is just to "shame" people.   They shoud have been taught appropriate behavior in the first place, but "shaming" has no effect whatsoever on those who don't care what others think.   .

Re: Breastfeeding in public?

I breast fed my second and third babies, number one was bottle fed because I mistakenly thought my A cup size wouldn't produce enough milk to keep him alive.   When I was out and the baby needed to be fed, I just draped a blanket over myself, no part of the breast was exposed.  This is such an easy way to handle nursing in public, I don't understand why any woman would needlessly expose her breasts unless she's an exhibitionist!

@SilleeMee  No it isn't that simple.  In an office or a restaurant I should not have to avoid looking to enjoy my night out.  It's simply rude behavior.   I don't file my toe nails at the table, I don't use my foot file in the doctor's office.  Good grief.

You eat at the table in a restaurant.  Babies are allowed the same privilege .

It's much more comfortale being nude for many and they probably eat nude at home - so if someone eats nude at the table at home, - well why not a restaurant?

I have no problem with nudity but in the majority of cases these women just do it show off, showcase their bare breast and claim entitlement!  If everyone could be bare breasted in public then fine.   It is not necessary to pull out a breast in a restaurant when you can discretely feed your child.  Look at no shirt no shoes no service!!  It actually is not very sanitary to do this in a public place anyway and unless someone spends every moment in public places it's just not necessary to breast feed in public anyway!!  A baby is not going to starve if not fed immediately!  These same mothers probably will forgo feeding at home when busy on social media!!  In most cases they like the attention!!

Women don't breastfeed their babies in public b/s they want attention, it is because their babies are hungry.  So you suggest to deny a hungery baby a meal because you find breastfeeding in public inappropriarte- how inconsiderate!

No... I would simply suggest feeding their baby at home so that it doesn't get hungry in a public place and if it does to show a little tact, decorum and, frankly, class... by not whipping out one's breast without some sort of cover for all the world to see... Even if some dire circumstance forces the issue of public feeding, there really are more and less public places to accomplish the goal... Hanging over the meat counter or in the pew of a packed church are not among them... Most public establishments have some kind of quiet corner or bench and while I can't personally say that anyone not using them is seeking attention, I might consider that they're intent on flaunting their 'right' to feed in public...

There's a certain air of militancy to women who desire to do this in public as part of an agenda.  And a lot of solipsism.

I have the same reaction to this as I did to a similar post. It's a very weird comparison that says something about our mindset.

@Johnnyeager, to your first point, I don't know whether it's true. But if it is, it's long overdue.

To you second point, it in no way presumes narcissism.
