How much money did you have to put into these cars? What kind of repairs?
I can't imagine that someone got 275,000 miles on one car with nothing but oil changes.
I had more peace of mind driving a Toyota that had over 200k miles on it than I ever did the Ford I had with only 30k miles on it. That brand new car was in the shop 4 times before I decided to get rid of it. I have NEVER had that kind of trouble with any of my Toyotas.

Well, I am not familiar with Toyota's but that does sound like a great track record. I would probably be the lone person who got stuck. Beside, wasn't there a huge recall of Toyota's a few years ago? I googled and there are another 2.3 million being recalled in 2014.
Whatever the case may be, I like new cars and I like the feeling of security when I am driving them. I have never been stuck once compared to the old clunker I drove when I was first married and got stuck frequently with my baby daughter. I told myself the minute I could, I would always trade in my cars every three years and enjoy the beauty of a new car. I guess different strokes and all that.....

There is no reason not to keep a car long-term these days as long as they're properly cared for. We gave our daughter a Toyota with high mileage on it. It's very reliable, and it's a great starter car for her.
My sister just bought a new Camry last week. I think we've had about 8 Toyotas - LOL

I came from a family that also got a new car every 2 yrs but when I had to pay for it my own, well I couldn't afford that in the beginning. Not at all. My Prius I have had since 2010 and I drive that the most often because it is less expensive in gas. My other car is a Range Rover and I use that if we are driving to the beach or when we need more room for people or stuff. I will probably trade my Prius in this year, not because it needs it but because I want a newer one. My husband has a Mercedes and tries to get me to get one too but I am happy with the Toyota brand.
There have been recalls. Many car brands have had recalls though and Toyota has a good track record with the majority of owners having owned a Toyota before. That is a good testament I think.

Actually - since we are supposed to be limiting our driving due to carbon emissions etc. etc., - I'm not sure high mileage is something to brag about.
Now if you are talking about the longest you've kept a car - I drove my Toyota Camry for 10 years and then gave it to my stepson who drove it for another 6.
Never had any trouble with it.

All I had to do to my Toyota was standard maintenance and a little oil here and there. It was a great car! Well --- I had that car for like 16 years!!!!
