I have a 2003 Civic with 77K. I am hoping to drive it another 10 years, but with the weather and no garage, it might rust out before the engine dies out.

We had a Honda Civic for 16 years and 250,000 miles then sold it for $600.00. Always took it to the dealer for maintenance, no real problems but a lemon of an a/c when we first got it, after 6 months they finally admitted it and replaced it.
The second Civic we had was Dh's 2003 and at 32,000 miles I had to replace the suspension which was in Consumer Report to have a problem in the 2003's. I had it fixed for $1,400.00 and sold it to Dh's golf partner in 2009. He is still driving it free of problems, the last I heard he had over 60,000 miles on it.
I bought a new Civic in 2009 and have just passed 3,200 miles, 4 years old and only 3,200 miles on it. I don't go too far from the nest, but I plan to in the future. They are fabulous trouble free cars, it will outlive me!
I sold my 1995 Toyota Corolla in 2005 (forgot the mileage) but the owner is still driving it.

Several years ago, a Toyota Corolla had over 200,000 miles and it was still going pretty well when I sold it and got a new car --- finally!

I had 250,000 miles on a Toyota Matrix when the flywheel cracked. That would have been a $1,500 repair for a $150 part. My mechanic bought it because he knew the overall condition of the car. He's still driving it with 350,000 miles on the odometer.

The most I had on a vehicle was on my Mercury Sable that I traded in 3 years ago and that was a 1999 with right around 145,000. There were too many things going wrong with the car that needed to be fixed and would have cost more than the car was worth so DH insisted we trade it in. I loved that car.
My DH had a Ford Aspire with very close to 200,000 miles on it that he got rid of last year. I cannot remember what year it was, maybe a 1995? Anyhow, he bought it used for $1,000.00 as a work car and ended up driving it for everything. He loved that car and had no major problems with it whatsoever.
However, it got to be so bad that with the ever increasing gas prices, to fill it up was putting more money into it than the car was worth.
He sold it to someone for $500.00!

The issue for myself is that I refuse to have to worry about breaking down on the road. I prefer peace of mind. There's a lot more to a car than an odometer.
How much money did you have to put into these cars? What kind of repairs?
I can't imagine that someone got 275,000 miles on one car with nothing but oil changes.

I did indeed get to 275,000 miles with only oil changes, new tires, new battery and brake pads. I have never had to have anything other than maintenance on any of my Toyotas with the exception of body repair when I was hit.
It isn't just here that Toyotas are popular, I have read that the Camry is the best selling car in the US.
I did try other brands but didn't have the success with them that I do with the Toyota so I have stuck with them.
