@jeanlake  Enjoy your retirement.

DH is 80 (he is a young 80) and still working (self employed).

Our business is not nearly as busy as it was 40 years ago, so the slower pace is perfect for us.  It gives him something to do thru the week but less hours per day.  Win, win...

I hope your retirement is all you want it to be.

I traveled overseas for work, so Monday was not an option. Early Sunday AM.  The long flights were draining, but being there and the work were great!

Do you miss it?

I'm retired, enjoy going to church on Sunday, temp checks and mask still mandatory until next month.  Since being fully vaccinated I enjoyed keeping my 5 yo grandson this weekend, gave my daughter and son in law a break and kept "Mr. Busy"  He read the cat and the hat book to me 5 times from cover to cover.  His dad picked him up 2 hrs ago so now I will spend the rest of the day recovering !

Sometimes. A Marriott is a Marriott is a Marriott, ya know? I miss the actual work, and I did meet some great people who were my counterparts at other companies in the pharma industry, but there a lot of other things and places that I've happily left behind.

I still travel quite a bit, but now when I go someplace I stay for awhile, rather than a different hotel/car service/office every day. Much more relaxing!

No, it's really not. The job, yes. But a Marriott is a Marriott is a Marriott is a Marriott. There is no time to socialize. More often than not it was unremarkable room service meals because I had to get ready for the next day's meetings. You're not dining out at 5 star restaurants. You're not relaxing by the pool. It's a business trip. It's work. I loved my job and at times I loved everything that went along with the travel. But what you're envisioning is absolutely not what business travel entails, even at the senior exec level.

I had to laugh at this post. I’ve disliked Sunday’s for years because just like you said, it was basically a “get ready to go back to work” day! It reminds me of a Sunday night several years ago when my 10-year-old son said he wasn’t feeling well. I knew he was fine because he was playing all day and was fine when he went to bed. I explained to him that he had a case of the “Sunday night blues,” and that it doesn’t go away when you’re an adult either.

Ever so often I have a do nothing day , and today is one of them. It's a huge sports day for the rest of the fam, and I'm good till football season. So it's no cooking, lots of reading,and NO chores . We all need this once in a while.

ITA, truly my day of rest too....Im not a summer person and nothing much on TV that time of the year, so it's a good time catch up on my reading....But come FALL---it's NFL TIME.🏈smileys-cheerleading-755332.gif

I choose to make every day a good day; it's 24 hours of time I can't get back, so I do, or find, something to be thankful about at the end of the day.

Sunday and Monday are usually the days of the week I can totally focus on my home and family.   Mom is with my brothers on those days, and my attention is focused here.  If my girls are here, I am busy with dinner and someone's laundry.   If it's just my husband and I, it's a nice lazy day that I don't get many of, so there's no complaining.
