Gosh yes, that tight feeling when you are in boots and the sock "squeezes" your toes and all you can think about is your aching foot. I don't wear socks or hose with ankle boots but when I wear tall boots, I snip the toe part of my socks or tights so my toes can be free.

Wearing any closed shoe without some type of 'sock', hose, etc. is a great way to get foot fungus i.e., athlete's foot. Fungus, bacteria thrive in a warm, moist environment. Nail fungus is another problem & is very, very difficult to get rid of. My experience. Take it or leave it. It's your feet.

I wear "footie" nylons with my ankle boots and knee highs with the knee high and OTK. Just feels more comfortable to me.

The only time I wear socks is when I'm at the gym or out jogging. I have many boots, both ankle and tall, and I never wear socks with them, ever. My feet love the extra wiggle room, and they are never cold in boots, even in the winter. I love the freedom of it. BTW, I don't get foot fungus (I do take showers and baths).

Other than sandals ... I wear socks or stockings with shoes, sneakers or boots.
Yucky just thinking of bare feet in boots!

I'm sure it's personal preference. I'm a sock person and won't wear sneakers without socks. I do have a pair of lucky brand (Basel) perforated booties that I will wear without socks if I am wearing them in the summer. That doesn't happen often though.

Yuck.

I've never had any issues. I basically only wear socks when it's cold. I do spend most of my time barefoot though, in the house.

I can't stand wearing closed-toed shoes with no socks. Yuck. Most of the time I wear very thin trouser socks just to have something to prevent chafing and/or sweating. To each his own though.

I am in the midwest and always wondered about socks as well. As much as I dislike wearing socks it is a MUST in the winter time. I wish they would style with socks for some of the presentations.
