Thoughts?

Mike Francesa (WFAN) took issue with Mets 2B Daniel Murphy missing 2 games on paternity leave, labeling it a scam, and Boomer Esiason suggested Murphy should have insisted his wife schedule a C-section prior to Opening Day. Should pro athletes, or any dad for that matter, miss extended work for the birth of a child?

Yes, if they want their marriage to succeed! Seriously, yes. It's early in the season and the sports guys have nothing better to talk about. Lots of players have missed a game or two for the birth of their children.

Under FMLA, men have the same rights for parental leave as women, so it's the law & it's ridiculous to expect pro athletes to not take the time off. It sure takes a lot of nerve for some jerk to even suggest someone's wife should schedule a c-section for the convenience of the sport.

It's a personal choice between the expectant parents. Shame on Boomer for making that remark. It shouldn't matter if the father is a pro athlete or a ditch digger, they shouldn't be judged or ridiculed for their decision. There's my 2cents for what it's worth.

Of course, it is as important for fathers to bond with the new baby as the mother. Most new fathers I know take at least a week, more if they can afford it or if their job place allows it. Those old Fuddy Duffy newscasters are so old school.

Boomer is very lucky that I'm not his wife......

They need to keep their outdated and moronic thoughts to themselves.

I agree!

My ex was in the NHL.

Would you believe that women planned their babies around the offseason?

And some did have C sections to coincide when daddy was in town.
