To be fair he was there for the birth of his child. It was the next day that he is being questioned on.

My dd was born on a marine base, her dad was training for desert storm. He was there for the birth and went back to training that night.

When you have serviceman missing their kids being born entirely I think this pales in comparison.

Hi, It's not the same situation at all.

I believe their comments passed the bar of being insensitive. You know yourself that one slip of the lip has sunk many a career. The broadcasters should offer a sincere apology to families for their remarks.

No, this isn't about soldiers, policemen, fireman, etc nor any other vital personnel..so why did the Sportscasters treat it as such? Baseball is a GAME , not the DMZ zone.

Considering what Boomer has done for the fight against cystic fibrosis and tons of under priveledged kids I think his comment was a lot to do about nothing.

Suggesting a woman have major surgery for convenience sake is nothing?

Please doctors have done it for years..this is new to you???????

I had two C-Sections but they were both MEDICAL convenience. Surgery shouldn't be done because the father needs to play a game.

Ok just because I think this is a lot to do about nothing. Does not mean I think surgery is in order. No where in my comment did I say that.

Sorry maybe because I raised my daughter alone I do not see the big deal. The father made the decision to stay in Port Lucie for the birth and subsequent days. He made the choice and he now has to live with that. If he is OK with taking off time without getting permission and being penalized then it is not our call. But if he feels he is being singled out then I am sure his agent and union will get involved on his behalf.

The commentator was making a comment on it. A commentator who is an ex athlete who may or may not of had to make these decisions. Oh yeah he did. He was at his team football mini camp when he found out his 2 year old son was rushed to the emergency room because he stopped breathing. I don't think he meant it to be demeaning to the player or his wife. I am sure he will make the customary apologies etc.

And we will move on to the next crisis.

And Doctors frown on this practice too. NO ONE should suggest a woman have an unnecessary surgery for the sake of a GAME! That's barbaric.

The commentators are waaaaaaaaaaay past their playing days and rules were different "back in the day." Yes, the EXPECTANT FATHER OF A CHOSE TO BE WITH HIS WIFE DURING THE BIRTH OF THEIR SON and spent an extra day with her, GOOD FOR HIM...and according tour terms, he's living with it. HE IS ALLOWED THOSE DAYS OFF.

OK first off. Can you stop yelling at me. By way of using your CAPS is like yelling and I can read I understand your point.
