@KingstonsMom. Congratulations on your new bundle of joy.  I got mine about 3 weeks ago from a shelter via collie rescue.  We think she is a Sheltie mix about a year old.  She chews everything.  I got an old collie and an older Aussie and she's giving them fits.  I can say Misty has lit up our lives.

She's beautiful!

My last 2 dogs were a Sheltie (my avatar) and a miniature Aussie!

Both great dogs!

Congrats to you on your new bundle of joy too, and thank you for the work you do with rescues!

They were callng him Landon, but we're calling him Kingston. You'll notice some burns on his back in a couple of his pics, but those are healing up nicely!

Sure didn't get much sleep last night, though!

55 lbs. of love and tongue made sure of that, LOL!

I notice the description did not say this dog is a Pit Bull, which it is.  He may be mixed, but I don't necessarily see a mix.  He is lucky you came along, and I hope all works out for you.

@mousiegirl

I agree that he does have a Pit Bull look to him, but 2 Vets say Boxer.

I have a granddaughter who's a full blooded Pit, so I'm familiar with that breed as well.

You can definitely see a difference in the shape of their head, snout and jowls when they're together.

On the other hand, we have 2 full blooded Boxers across the street and 1 down the street and you can easily see the Boxer in him, when he's with them.

The only thing that I care about is that we have each other to love and he wasn't killed!

IG's dog has a turned up nose like a Boxer. From the side, he is tall, long, and lean like both a Boxer and a hound. He is not low and broad like a Pit. His face has wrinkles as some hounds do. I have never seen a Pit with facial wrinkles. His eyes aren't wide set and small as Pits are.

Why is it that even on Christmas Eve some have to pick, give opinions that have nothing to do with the thread, and try to turn what should be a happy for you thread into controversy?

He's NOT a BOXER. He's a PITBULL. So OBVIOUS. Get some new glasses.

@italia8140

No need to be rude with your response!

I'm sure you have a degree in Veterinary Science like the 2 different vets that say he's Boxer, right?

Thank YOU, for adopting your Doxie!

Poor thing must've been so terrified to live through a fire and losing his home and family!

The joy he must've felt for you giving him a new loving home!

Bravo!

Re: Best present ever! Meet my Rescue!

Looks like a Plott hound mix to me but what does it matter what breed he is??  He could be several breeds mixed together!!  All breeds are loving when treated well, he is so lucky to have you and you, him!!  Merry Christmas!!!

@colliegirls

 Plott hound is what he's supposed to be mixed with!

And I agree with the rest of your post!

Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!

Re: Best present ever! Meet my Rescue!

How nice for him to finally experience the love of a family, it will change his life and your life forever.

I rescued a Boston terrier from a puppy mill home. She was six years old had no hair, her insides were coming out from over breeding, she had no teeth from chewing on the 3x3 cage she was looked in, her skin n feet were a mess, practically every ounce of her little body was damaged in some way.  We went to the home to buy a puppy and went home with this little lover instead.  When I walked past her cage n she jumped up and down like a jelly bean n looked at me with those sad eyes I knew I couldn't leave her.  We called her diva and she is the love of our lives.  She is fifteen now and from the very first day I got her we have only been within six feet of each other. She's healthy and happy and loved and I will never imagine what my life would be without her

so glad u rescued your little dog from a life of happiness, you will never regret your choice.

God Bless!!

You wouldn't know a Pit Bull if it came with a label. Then again who asked for your thoughts on the breed of the OP's gift?

Congratulations to the OP on being blessed with such a beautiful dog, may you have many happy years with him.

I don't see any boxer or hound in the dog,  definitely a pit.   Shelters and rescue groups go to any length to avoid using the label,  "pitbull" because there's so much prejudice against them.   It's too bad because there are many sweet pit bulls that make wonderful family pets.   I'm sure the OP will have a lovely pet.   This dog's temperament  has probably been tested.

@Kachina624

I've heard that before too, but if you look at the other dogs listed with this rescue group (in my OP link), they have a few that are clearly stated to be Pit Bulls, so I believe they're ethical with disclosing the breeds.

Regardless, my Vet agreed with Boxer/Plott hound, although it wouldn't bother me at all if he did have some Pit in him.

He's so sweet and lovable and no food aggression at all. He ignores the neighborhood cats that walk by, doesn't even bark at them and loves every dog he meets!

Now squirrels, he likes to chase!

I hope everyone has a fun day, filled with family, friends and good food, regardless of which holiday you celebrate!
