My Granddaughter is a healthy eather  but she does love her some good chocollate.  I was hopeing to maybe get her a "chocolate of the month kind of thing  for her birthday..

Any suggestions?

@Bettyanne

How old is your granddaughter?

The reason I ask is that my parents were big fans of See's Candies and their products became a part of my high school and college years.  There was always See's in the house.

When I went off to college (late 70s) I'd occasionally get a notice inside my mailbox that there was a package for me at the Post Office.

My parents would send me a box of See's strawberry creams.  I'll never forget that.

Happy memories. Heart

@just bee   Love these. At Christmas I get a box of these and a box of rum nougats.

@mousiegirl

It's funny because there was no See's Candies when we moved out here.  Then I found out they'd discontinued the strawberry creams.

One day a store opened in Albuquerque and now strawberry creams have reappeared.

Haven't had anything from See's Candies in a very long time and I always wonder if it'll taste the same.

I guess there's only one way to find out...

@just bee   I have been eating See's since a child.  My Mother would bring boxes of it home from work that clients had given her.  I would take a tiny nibble and if I didn't like it, would put it back in the box. She said she didn't think she had ever eaten a piece of candy that didn't have a nibble out of it, lol.

The lemon truffles are delicious, so one Christmas I bought a pound of it so DD and I wouldn't be arguing over it, lol.  She is a chocoholic, as is DH, and I usually only have candy over the holidays.

It is so nice to be able to order it online and make custom boxes, no more standing in line. The stores were always packed, and with every order, one is given a free piece.

@mousiegirl

I love the chocolate & caramel See's suckers, the first time I had them was when I was a young girl, our neighbor would give my sister and me a sucker for Christmas, still love them!

Re: Best Chocolate Candy

[ Edited ]

Sweenor's in Rhode Island. Great milk and dark chocolates. Novelty seasonal items. lots of products. Seafoam candy available at times. (The name is the website).

One of my favorites is the dark chocolate orange cream.

Well just back from Belgium & I try to stay away from chocolate but Neuhaus, hands down was the best I’ve ever had & I ate a lot of it there. There were some independent women operated stores selling Belgian chocolate, equally good but not available on line.

Im usually a Godiva fan, living in Italy part time but no comparison, imo. Neuhaus wins.

@Bettyanne .....Believe it or not, Aldi has delicious chocolate.....imported from Belgium/Germany. Great prices and sooooo smooth, creamy and as good as more expensive brands.

@RNbynite I have never had chocolate from this country that can match European chocolates.  The cookies in a tin that Costo sells, and chocolate coated cookies from Fortnum and Mason are wonderful.  The chocolate is so creamy and just melts in your hand.

See's is my lifelong favorite.

Even though most of their candy does have nuts which I am allergic to, the pieces that do not have nuts I absolutely love.
