Truth hurts.

His victims should determine if he should be granted a compassionate release.

I can't see how anyone is served by keeping a sick old man in prison. How can any decent person feel good about him dying there? He's guilty of theft and betrayed those who put their trust in him and deserved a prison sentence. He's served 11 years, that should be enough.

@occasionalrain I'm thinking you weren't one of his victims. Am I right?

Was there any condition for possibility of parole? I thought the 150 year sentence prevented any thoughts of parole.

Those who invested in IRA’s through their employer have no choice in investment managers. Anyone who assumes that type of IRA is safe from the market is in a sad situation.
I will not be political, but taking it on one’s self to slam other people on this thread for doing so, while giving one’s self, or one’s ‘friends’ a pass, is indeed self-satisfaction riding on a very high horse.
A prison sentence is part and parcel of the guilty party making amends to those s/he wronged, and to society for breaking our laws. I feel it is our system of justice, and it shouldn’t be bent to serve one person or another. If it no longer serves, it should be changed for everyone.
How long did the Lockerbie bomber live after being released?

I feel confident his needs are being met, he is being cared for but isn't as cozy as he would be at the home of his friend. You can bet there are laws in place that require proper treatment of inmates that are ill. He has been charged, convicted and sentenced, meanwhile many men the age and condition of Bernie Madoff will sleep out in the cold under a tarp tonight.

No, I don't think he should be released. He should continue to serve his sentence. His care will be well coordinated.

I've read some things about his treatment and it seems he's been transferred to a palliative treatment center in another state, which denotes his needs are being seen to in relatively compassionate care. It has also been reported that he has refused dyalisis, which could prolong his life. He claims he's unable to work and would support his treatment outside with Social Security and Medicare and live with an unnamed "friend."
My question is when he was sentened to (essentially) life in prison, what did he expect when, as an older person, would be the culmination of a life of crime? And why is he refusing dyalisis?

Am I reading correctly from some posters that it was Madoff's victim's fault for for being duped? His arrogance is obviously still working over time to even request compassionate release is unbelievable!
Any compassion for his son who committed suicide? Or otheres who died in the same manner because of his greed?
