We were talking about this last night and which of the small businesses will probably not come back. Such as, local dry cleaners, independent beauty shops, small yogurt ice cream shops, gift shops, and so many more. I think life as we know it will not be the same. So sad for all of us.

The before and after of 9/11

Before 9/11 there was '93, the first bombing under the towers. From '93 to 9/11, during that time there was the tick, tick, waiting and wondering and then it came on 9/11. After 9/11 things have not been the same and frankly neither has the ticking.

As for COVID-19 I think of my grandparents and WW11

They always had their homes stacked with non perishable items. They always said they had to be prepared for the worse no matter how good things seem.

During hurricanes people are told to have supplies on hand.

During this time we are all trying to do the same.

After COVID-19 which seems to be a longer journey for all, people will still have that ticking to keep their homes well prepared for the worse.

The virus will leave it's mark, for some more than others.

This virus is invisible but it leaves it mark on visible items such as cardboard, door handles, furniture, and other things. Maybe after the stay at home issue is lifted a person will look and wonder how safe an area is and so on.

@reiki604 I think we're just in the beginning of this thing, too. We've yet to process the full magnitude of this crisis. It still seems too surreal.

Sadly, it's going to take a long time to get to the 'after.' Then, things will be changed, leaving us to sadly reminisce about the 'before.'

Just like with every other catastrophic event, that changes us forever.  It will leave deep scars.

I feel this is true, we will always go back to this time and compare it to where we are in the future.   I hope this has taught all of us a lesson or two.  I have always tried to be a kind and appreciative person but I am feeling even more of that now.    I do wish for our country to be more prepared for disasters as they will always come and hardly ever  be expected.

While living through this crisis I already I appreciate the simple things in life more. I miss seeing family & friends. I miss going to church. The fact that basic items needed for life can’t be found in my local stores is a real eye opener for me. I’ve never really experienced anything like this.

I think we will be more grateful for things we have previously taken for granted.....clean water, abundant food, etc...reminds me of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs from a business class.

I'm  certain that we will never be the same again!  I am someone who does not like change, but I try to keep my glass always half full and I know that there will be positive changes from this.  Pollution and climate change are already benefiting. 

At least in my area, families are  normally on such a busy schedule that they do not have time to appreciate and spend enough time with each other.   That is changing in my family and hopefully others.

I hope that our government will focus on the families that can no longer support themselves during this time as well as the small businesses in our communities.

Yes even when this is over (hope soon but know it won't be) yes things are changing, most now working at home think we will see more of it, grocery stores now plexi glass in front of them will stay, we will not take things for granted. Yes, we will get threw it but we won't forget. Retired seen bird flu, swine flu, regular flu get the shots, 911 another horrible thing, earthquakes we don't forget add in the wars. We help each other and be there for family/neighbors. Of course the crazy people shooting up in concerts remember Vegas? We got eachother & humans try to help. It's hard times now, I am so lucky to get this check coming in 3 weeks yes many need it but will donate some of it to food bank & humane society I am doing a third and saving a third for my bills. I know not much but at least I can donate. Understand they need this check for everyday life. Nextdoor neighbors.com see how they are helping out to our community. We are all learning & we will never be the same after all of this.

The before and after are never the same.  We cannot recapture the freedom we had before 9/11 and we now will understand that invisible entities can wipe out populations and we are not immune to those horrible threats that we once attributed to third world countries.

I can still remember trips to DC and the freedom we had to roam all over and enjoy the things the Capitol had to offer.

We are now being educated to what invisible threats can do to destroy populations and devastate our medical supplies, doctors, nurses and affiliated health care professionals.  And if we look to certain authorities, we now know we are on our own.  Thank goodness for the governors and city leaders who are trying to save us.
