Mine sounds just like the one @geezerette described, but it also has 2 USB charging ports.  So convenient.

I still use an alarm clock and received a digital one as a gift.  The display is REALLY bright at night so I turn it so the light is not directly in my eyes.  However, it has a button where you can project it on the ceiling so that's what I use at night to tell time if I happen to wake up.

My uncle calls me an "analog girl," and also I sleep with a bedroom lamp on. For the precise time and alarm function, I keep an iPad next to my bed and usually sleep wearing my Apple watch. It shows the time if I press the "crown" button. My bedroom clock looks like this one, and it hangs on a wall where I can see it even from the hall. All my wall and chiming shelf clocks are analog.

Emerson clock radio, QVC, Amazon, Walmart.  Mine is old and still works great, large red numerals, changes time automatically with the time changes, radio is good for a clock radio.  I keep mine across the room on a desk, numerals are large enough for me to see without my glasses.

i don't like to know the time when i get up at night. no TV and i need pitch darkness to sleep. no nite light,   no clock in my room.  if i need to know time i tap my cell and set it for the alarm.

DH has a wind-up chiming clock which i can sometimes hear. when he travels i stop it.   i cannot stand this clock and the ticking and annoying chimes but he loves it.

Mine is like @geezerette 's, except it doesn't have a radio. I love how it was a, set it and forget it clock, as it resets itself for power outages and at time changes. I've had it for years and it's never failed.

It's an Acu-Rite brand. Cheap for something that has performed so well. I want to know what time it is, if I wake during the night.

This thread has made me realize how dependent I am on this little clock. So it's no surprise to me, that the OP has been missing her cable TV clock. But, it's an easy fix.

We had the same problem when the cable boxes changed.  I have clocks with large red numbers in several places – nightstand, by the TV in the bedroom, and by the TV in the living room.  I refer to them often and can’t imagine life without them.  I wear glasses and when I wake up in the middle of the night I can look over and easily see the time.  I can be anywhere in the apartment and see the time.

I bought them at the CVS, Target, etc.  I have two different brands depending on what they have.  We have the one below by Westclox, also have a similar one by Sharp.

@Starpolisher YES absolutely get one that puts the numbers in red on the wall or ceiling.  I LOVE that one.  My husband has one and I can peek at it or not when I wake up during the night!

I recommend those that you can have the number on the wall or the ceiling.

After reading this thread and the many posts, like @BlueFinchit made me get to thinking about how much I depend on these little clocks.  So as I was walking down the aisles at Walmart earlier this morning and spied the clock aisle, I decided to just check and see what they had available now.

I found a Sharp with many of the same features as my current clock radios, but without the radio (which I rarely use anyway) for $14.  So I bought it as a backup just in case my ancient clock gives up on me.

I'd be lost without my bedside lighted clock!
