Re: Bed Bath & Beyond Returning

Container Store thinks bringing BB&B will stave off bankruptcy? Hmm.

I used to really like Container Store. Every year on the last Friday of October I would go there and buy my Christmas wrapping paper and ribbons and tie-ons. That was always the day their wrap center premiered. Everything was outrageously priced but such a fun atmosphere. So many to choose from. Now they have a fraction of what they used to have and I often leave empty-handed.

BBB is investing in and providing Container Store with $40 million (if the deal goes through), so it may buy Container a bit of time.

There is a Container Store in my area. I'd be interested to see what that kind of cash will do for that store.

I wanted to make a purchase online, using a gift card towards the purchase/. They are refusing to honour their cards, even though they have no expiration date in CA.

I the past few days both Container Store and BBB released statements that the transaction is unlikely (at this time) to be consummated due to the inability of Container to achieve certain negotiations with its lenders.

This would leave Container in a precarious position as to its ability to survive.

Container Store reports that it is likely to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy within a week or so after the equity infusion from BBB failed to materialize.

I also miss Pier One and I too look around my home and see and appreciate some of the things tat I purchased.  Cannot ever say that I was disappointed in a Pier One purchase.

Re: Bed Bath & Beyond Returning

Like another poster I went into mourning when Pier 1 closed. I have lots of beautiful items purchased over the years. Right now I am looking at 2 white metal reindeer from Pier 1 on my mantle. In my sunroom I have a beautiful gold tone iron and glass bar cart.

The Container Store is expensive and I can't see how BB&B would fit into this store. It's a shame that these B&M stores could not compete with online shopping. To me it's just not the same.
