Should they hit me with one I will put it in my pocket or some other place for safe keeping. At the rink I give it to the attendant and let her/him make sure to keep it until the offenders are leaving the premises.
I don't think this is going to fly at the beach!!
"Now I'm keeping it"
Hey, if it has got air in it? Easy to deflate these things. If nothing else use it for a pillow or something.

They try to emulate and experience everything at one time. Yes, they make mistakes. Yes, they don't know the rules. Yes, they can be rude if you are rude to them. Instead of screaming at them, you might want to help them understand what is the correct way to enjoy what you get to enjoy more often. Some of us know this, but some don't. Try to respect that fact just like you expect them to respect you.
I didn't scream at anyone. And only a fool would think it is okay to continue to hit people with a ball. I did give her some advice, told her better places to go play ball. Her reaction was to kick the ball towards my daughter as hard as she could- only her son got in the way.
If someone can't realize kicking a hard ball in a crowded area isn't a good idea, or letting your kids run all over and destroy other kid's sand castle (which they did to the family next to us). You just can't fix stupid or irresponsible.

Anywhere you go you are going to have those that don't "conform". I wouldn't let it ruin my day. I would have done whatever it would take to make my time at the beach worth spending, even if it meant packing up my husband and child and moving them up or down the beach a ways. Problem solved.

I try to go to the beach when it isn't crowded .... or find a place that isn't.
Even Malibu is crowded these days.

Not everyone is born or raised to have "beach sense" (
) or "beach etiquette" (
), OP.
Nor is everyone so fortunate to even go to one, or to have been taught manners by whoever raised them.
Maybe it was their very first time.
Although I don't condone her overreaction to your admonishing/bossiness, telling her "You better not hit my husband" is a threat, and you could have easily worded things in a different way.

If the Op was so aggravated by these people why didn't she just move? It's a big ocean.

Hi Disneylandfan: Good to see you. Honestly, I can't remember a bad time at the beach but I do remember being at a waterpark with my son - you had to pay a $3 deposit for a tube. The people next to me - what a bunch! The daughter (about 13 years old) came up with a tube they hadn't rented - she said a "kid" fell from the tube so she snatched it up. The parents just laughed. Then they left and left the tube behind on the sand. So not only did this girl steal that tube, she was applauded for doing so and then to just leave it there - I can imagine how that girl is as an adult.
btw: Wolves always behave better than humans. Just sayin'.

She shouldn't have to. And being a big ocean, the woman with the kids should be the one to go find a different spot.
