Re: Bath cabinet color question

Have what you like. They don't need to match. When we built our house all the cabinetry was the same color throughout, but we've done two bathroom remodels and hopefully will be doing the last one this fall or next spring. We never even gave it a thought that they had to continue matching the kitchen cabinets. Our master bath is small and we chose all dark cabinets for it. I think the dark is fine for a small bathroom as long as the sizes of the cabinetry isn't overwhelming. We found pieces at Lowe's that worked well for us and even made the bathroom slightly roomier.

Re: Bath cabinet color question

Thank you.I'm so happy to read these responses that I realize that I REALLY want a dark cabinet, even tho the bath is small. I dont know why I don't trust my own taste and just do what I want in the first place! I guess I am just so afraid ill regret these large decisions...

It's only paint !

You can always change it if you don't like it.

Re: Bath cabinet color question

I absolutely don't think you need to match your bath and kitchen cabinets. If you assess that a darker cabinet would enhance your bath, why not go for it. When I recently modernized (a full re-do was out of the question) a bath, I went with a black cabinet because I thought it looked better with the existing tiles and fixtures, as replacing them wasn't in the budget. I went sort of low-end because at some point I would like to rip it all out, but for now, that darker cabinet looks so much better than the previous 'wood tone' did. I didn't replace the cabinet in another bathroom, but had it painted a pale dove gray to match the walls and it too is an improvement.

It doesn't have to match.

Re: Bath cabinet color question

I'm not painting the cabinet. We are replacing cabinet, toilet, floors and the fiberglass shower with tile. I need to choose flooring, shower tile, toilet and cabinet and fixtures. This bathroom redo was to happen in the future but since our pipe located in the crawl space burst, we decided to go ahead since all have to be torn out for repairs. Kitchen in cottage, all flooring and some built in bunks were done last summer. The bath was the only fairly updated room we had. Now the entire cottage is going to look pretty good! :-)

Re: Bath cabinet color question

Have you ever seen the ""cottage"" look people get when they utilize old dressers as vanities for sinks?

I think it's a great look...and affordable too.

Try googling for images...there are lots of ideas!
