I think you can do different colors. I've seen this done in many houses. Go with what you think would look best in the bathroom.

All my kitchen and bathroom cabinets were the same because it was a builder's remodel in the 80s and that was the style back then.
Different cabinets are more cottage-like and more stylish now.

I would go with something that would match not only the wall color but the flooring as well.

Go with what you like. The two rooms need not be the same.

They are two separate rooms and can absolutely be treated as such! Builders often use the same cabinetry throughout, as it is easier and cost effective--the path of least resistance! A deeper color for the vanity will play off the white beadboard and provide a nice contrast. A good friend just had a deep charcoal vanity installed in her beadboard walled bath--stunning!

I have white bead board in my bathroom along with a black and taupe flowered wall paper, I recently had my bath remodeled and I had my old cabinet painted black and purchased a white toilet along with a white vanity, love it!!

When we bought our house the master bath vanity was the same as the kitchen. I thought that was a bit tacky so I painted it with an ebony stain. I love how it looks.

I am guessing that the bath is much smaller than the kitchen? My thought is that anything dark in the bath would make it look even smaller. I would probably go with lighter colors there. But that is just me. Let us know what you decide. Sounds like you are having fun. Enjoy!
