She gets her information from Dr McDougall, the same man that mass produces processed food items that you will find on the shelves of Whole Foods and Sprouts that contain a whole lot of sodium. But getting back to the subject of potatoes, one has to find the right type of food that strengthens their immune system and potatoes simply don't work for me. Everything you eat affects the bacteria in your gut and if you want to avoid getting sick you need to find what works for you to build up your immune system.
"Dr" McDougall is a self-promoting nutbag.
Re: potatoes. I rarely eat them. Once in a blue moon I'll have some steak cut fries if I'm at a good steak fry makin' establishment.

The only thing eating a potato leaves me feeling is full and satisfied.

I'm not a big bread eater, but when I do have bread, I prefer whole grain, whole wheat, and I LOVE sourdough!

7. Re: Sugar... "White potatoes, the ones you normally eat baked or as french fries, rank high on the glycemic index, which measures how quickly food affects your blood sugar. Sweet potatoes rate lower. They also have more fiber -- about 5 grams in a 3/4 cup serving -- which slows digestion and keeps you feeling fuller longer."
8. If you’re trying to trim down, they’re stuffed with filling fiber. White potatoes have their assets -- both tater types are fat-free -- but the sweet ones have slightly fewer calories and carbs.
9. Sweet potatoes are a good source of iron.

I LOVE sweet potatoes. I love them baked but I make mashed sweet potatoes too. I put them through my ricer (love that thing) with butter, cinnamon, pure vanilla bean paste and occasionally a little honey. I find i don't need honey most of the time though, they are sweet enough for us without it. Of course salt and pepper too. I also love to cube them then put them on a lined sheet pan with olive oil, salt, pepper and turmeric. Delish! I rarely boil veggies anymore, so much more flavorful roasted.

I just posted a recipe you might like, with sweet potatoes, I'll bring it here.
Hope you've been well ![]()
