Well, I said Martha Washington was my favorite female historical figure, so the male award has to go to hubby, George! I love American history and I've read volumes about GW's life. Was he perfect? Certainly not, but he was remarkable never-the-less. I always think it's ironic how interested I am in his life and career and the American Revolution, because as non-confrontational as I am, had I been alive at that time I would have been a Tory.

There are so many, but I do count Abraham Lincoln, Marrin Luther King, and Gandhi as some of my favorites. Gandhi was a major influence on Marrin Luther King, inspiring a movement based on non-violence. Interestingly enough, Martin Luther King spent a few summers picking crops in Connecticut as a very young man, and he is said to be inspired by the treatment he received here. He worked not too far from where I live, and he is remembered in special ways here to this day.
