The feeders are emptied so very quickly but those critters will have to wait another day. The seed is just not as good as it once was and they drop so much of it on the ground. Drives me crazy but like I said, the seed is just not as good so the birds toss a lot of it.
Stripes is really snubbing me. Yesterday three times I went outside, he saw me and ran. The day before he hung around but moved a good distance apart. Am always afraid he will just now show up one of these days. I guess those first years of his life are still very dominant. When he agrees to let me pick him up he is soooooooo lovey dovey. Stinker!!!! He also ran from the kids yesterday. I THINK he is hanging out at the gutted house across the street. He is getting older so of course I worry more about him now also. Have noticed he moves much slower and does not run around like he use to. Well then, neither do I!
Have a great day everyone

Winifred - I hand raised Poppi from the time he hatched out of the egg. He was more my husband's bird and till this day, leaves a room when I walk in it. There are times he looks at me as though he's seeing the face of Sa_an (lol). What can you do?

mousiegirl, I hope your baby girl will have a great time at college. You will have her home soon for the holidays.
I too am so happy to read that mousiegirl & Winifred were not affected by the earthquake. The pictures we are getting on our news over here is devastating.
Bird mama, you will need to go back to work to rest.
We have had a week of really cool temps and the prediction is that we will have an early fall and even earlier winter.
I'm glad we are headed to Houston for 3 months starting in October.

Thank you, Puddles. What a marvelous bird! I have never seen a purple bird in pictures or otherwise.

mousiegirl, I have no idea what the name of the purple bird is. I found it searching for something totally different and thought the same as you......Wow, "what a bird."
I find the really colorful birds on UK web sites and don't always note their names. I promise to do so in the future though. I found this cute graphic and thought of you...................
