It woke me up. I found out today it was a 6.0 in Napa, and that is pretty high. I know it wasn't that strong here, just some rattling of things like our bed, etc.

Mousie - I'm so glad that you are okay.

Thanks, Bird mama, it was far enough away that so damage here, thank goodness. I hate earthquakes, still remember the one in the 80's which was terrible, the entire house swayed back and forth, scared all of the cats I had at the time, due to fostering, to bouncing off of the walls in their desperate attempt to get out of the room. I don't remember the dogs noticing so much, they were waiting for their dinner that I had in my hand when the earthquake hit. I was coming downstairs, so put my one empty hand on the wall, and froze with one foot on one stair, the other on a lower stair.

Good Morning Birding Friends ~ The sun is shining and it's expected to be in the upper 80's today and tomorrow with real feel temps of 90. I've been off of work since Thursday and have really enjoyed my time off. I did some fun things and also worked like a Trojan on my windows and blinds. Man my bad shoulder is still hurting from taking the storm window panels off from the inside (second story no less). I was terrified that I would drop one and face it, I'm not the most coordinated or graceful (lol). I did the last two window/blinds on Sunday and hobbled around a lot. My goodness, who knew that kneeling and bending over a bath tub washing blinds would cause my muscles in my rear end to hurt.
It needed to be done so even though I am sore, I am also pleased with the outcome. My hands are looking more normal - I have been slathering Jergens hand lotion on them to reverse the effects of Clorox, Mr. Clean and hot vinegar/water.
I will be heading out soon to get the grocery shopping done. Then it's off to cut the grass and spend some time with my man - Ben Gay

LOL, Bird mama, I know only too well the aches and pains of trying to keep things clean and orderly, though I fail miserably, and my best friend is SportsGel. Re cleaning bathtubs, I have a long handled scrub brush specifically made for this that comes with bottles of cleaner which I buy here at QVC or at Fuller Brush. It is a wonderful way to scrub a tub, which I had DD do as it is her tub, and it has been years since I felt I could clean a tub.
As for cleaning windows, any glass, and mirrors, put a tiny bit of liquid soap in a small bowl of water, and apply with a paper towel , then dry with a dry paper towel, no rinsing required, and the glass comes out clean with no streaks. I learned that this is what gas stations use to clean windows. It is so much easier than anything else I have ever tried.

Hi Birding Friends, Very late getting here, but wanted to say hi and that I am glad Mousie and Winifred were not affected by the earthquake in Napa. I feel so bad for those who had so much damage, but thankfully, as far as I know, no one has died from injuries. It looks like some of the small family wineries were severely damaged and I heard some don't have earthquake insurance. I can't imagine not having it in CA. I have earthquake insurance on my house as we are only about 100 miles or so north of the New Madrid Fault. Over the years we've had some rocking and rolling from that fault moving. Scary stuff.
I couldn't get on here till about 3 or so this afternoon. The modem wasn't working for the internet, although the TVs were working. Frustrating to turn these contraptions on and they tell you they can't connect to the internet. I don't know what is entailed with the modem, but when my youngest GS got home from school, he fixed it. I'd talked to his mom while she was at work and she told me what she thought would do it, but I am not about to start disconnecting cord, wires etc. on that modem. It's big and complicated to me.
Then I had the dishwasher repair man come to fix the top shelf of the dishwasher. It had broken rollers, made of plastic, which I figured is a bad design and the repairman agreed, but since he works for Sears, he couldn't say too much. This machine has so many options, it's ridiculous. I think the simpler a machine is, the better. All we ever use on it is normal wash and hot, dry rinse. There must be about 5 other options. Like the washing machine, it has 7 choices for washes, a rinse and spin, a drain and spin, + a clean itself cycle. When there's that many options, I think it's way too easy for something to get 'confused' and not work right. Simple is my way. I don't have the $$ for big repair jobs.
Mousie, How is DD doing at school? Does she know what she wants to major in yet? My oldest grandson's classes started today.
I will have to be doing windows when I get home for sure. My brother hardly knows what the word housework means. Wish I could afford a housecleaning company to come in there and sweep it all out. + do the windows. That's right up there with ironing on my "don't want to do" list. I do like sparkling clean windows though.
Guess I'd best get this posted before I get a "runtime error" or Chrome crashes.
Waving to all Birding Friends. Have a peaceful night and a lovely Tuesday.

Possumm - DD's major is equine science. College is for finding out what one wants to do, so time will tell.
