This was implemented in WV years ago, along with the addition of a second area code for the state.

We've had to use area codes in my city for many years now. It doesn't bother me at all since the majority of people I call are on speed dial.

Ummm...this has been the norm for 20+ years in PA! I didn't know that anywhere existed in the US that didn't do this. Learn something new every day!

My local area added a second code quite a few years ago & just heard there's now a third!? I've had my same cell number for 25+ years, so have the "original " area code. When I had a landline, that had the original code as well.

@meallen616  I lived up North for years and was wondering if it were NJ and NY where the area code and number were used.  I lived in NY and then NJ and think I did that in both places.

I'm in the NY Tri State area and in New York, this has been a thing since they introduced area code 718.  In New Jersey as well since they added new area codes like 609.  YEARS.  I mean a long time.  Connecticut too as well as PA.

I've had to dial the ten digit number for years. This is nothing new in my area. You might get used to it but the longer numbers are a pain in the, well, neck.
