@Kachina624  ITA. This is social media and has been pointed out, an unsecure site (unless that’s changed). I definitely want to keep my anonymity.

Just curious.  I see some posts where actual self pictures are posted.  I have never done this and am not sure if it would be in my comfort  zone.  I also use the pictures of my KIDS Buttercup and Bailey (Chihuahuas) to identify myself.  I have noticed that others use themselves.  There was a wedding dress post and I thought about posting mine with me in it but decided perhaps not.  Mixed feelings.  Safety, no need to know, etc.  Any comments on this.

No. Never.  My daughter is 13 and she wants to join snap chap, facebook...and many more.  She says "everyone is on it."  It's all posting selfies and videos of yourself.  I will not allow her to do this.

[ Edited ]

To my knowledge, no one except DH knows I post the forums.

However most everyone posts family photos on FB except me and DD.

I have nothing for anyone to target me except maybe Bubba kitty. Just kidding.

Its too bad we have to live in fear because I feel I’ve made several friends here.

I have no problem posting my photo.  There's a long thread on the fashion forum where the ladies post pictures of themselves on what they are wearing for the day.  I really enjoy that thread!

I really enjoy that thread, too!  I haven't had the nerve to post a pic there though.  I would never post my face LOL.

I have to admit that when I read your posts and I see your pic, it is like you are talking to us. LOL

I confess that I did post my pic on a thread, which made me realize that I really need to amp up my use of moisturizers!

Just kidding, LOL!

It isn’t about comfort; it is about safety. I would not post photos or other personal information about myself or anyone else.

Re: Are you comfortable posting a picture of yourself?

There are business networking and professional organizations that require (or strongly prefer) that all members post a photo of themselves in the Membership section.  Some people don't care, and others do.  If you are promoting yourself (professionally), it certainly makes sense.

However, I find no reason to post my photo in a medium such as facebook.   My friends and family know how to reach me, and others ....  well, I don't care to be contacted.

I had a very bad experience with a stalker about 20 years ago, and I am instinctively over protective these days.   Once you put something out on the internet .....  anywhere on the internet .....  you have given up control of that information.  NOT  good thing, IMO.
