Interesting but how would I know ??? I think someone who is observing us would be the best judge of that.

I grew up on the east coast where we had colorful fall foliage. I like all colors in the leaves. I wonder if I hate pastels because the dentists office had pastel walls. Didn't have much dental work done growing up, but was still scared to go to the dentist.

The second family home I spent most of my childhood in was remodeled in the 70s and had avocado green carpet and goldenrod appliances. My bedroom had the avocado green carpet, yellow walls, and pastel wallpaper with a quilt pattern. I am not a fan of goldenrod, avocado green, red, orange, or yellow. When I was 14 and my parents let me redecorate my bedroom, I tore off the wallpaper and painted the room white, then ripped out the carpet and had it replaced with parquet flooring.
I have mostly positive memories associated with childhood and both homes, but I hated those colors then and still do today. I prefer bright colors like turquoise, purple, and coral and don't like muted colors like goldenrod or avocado.
Oh boy do I remember that red, orange and yellow shag, LOL. I had a big fight with my landlord over that stuff. My bedroom had beautiful wood floors and I decorated in blues and yellows. He insisted that he put that ugly USED carpeting in my room so that he could raise my rent. I told him no, but I came home from work one evening and there it was. I swear it looked like a massacre happened in there. Then I had to change out all the bedding, curtains, etc. I couldn't afford to move so I had to live with it for a while.

LOVE COLOR!

I love bright colors, but have always been heavily influenced by the color red. As a young child before I started school, I colored everything in my coloring books red. 63 crayons in my box would look brand new, but my red crayon would be a tiny nub. My mom would never buy me red or pink colored clothing, due to my red hair. The very first coat of paint on the walls in my bedroom at home, was cameo pink---her choice, not mine. I finally succeeded in getting her to repaint the room, and went thru my teen years with lilac colored walls, with deep purple accents. My request for red was always denied. In my own home, red has always been the dominate color.

I really don't know. My parents decorated with earth colors as do my brothers and sisters.
i love color and prefer cool shades as opposed to warm shades. I am also, the only member in my family to have cool skin, eye and hair colors.

I decorate only with colors that I look good wearing.

I don't think it's true for me. The colors that make me happy are mostly if not entirely in the degrees of the jewel tone palette. They don't appear in nature all that much.
Born and raised in SoCal so never have grown up seeing green, but love it. Often in the presence of the ocean, which I love, but color has nothing to do with that.
Beach & sand - brown, orange, yellow - all colors I dislike, as they are not in my palette and I find them ugly to my eyes. So all in all, the theory applies zero to me.
