I'm about 45 minutes South of Cleveland, Ohio. In the path of totality. We were outside for it and the neighborhood erupted in applause when it happened. Didn't expect that. It was kinda cool.

Were there a lot of people standing on the square watching the eclipse? We saw it from the parking lot of Dr dehaven's office. There are lots of trees around his office and parking lot so it was really a nice backdrop for the eclipse.
Yes the square was full and on the sidewalks. I stayed in the office on the 10th floor but all the roofs had people on them both courthouses KLTV building. When it got completely dark I could no longer see even the attorneys across from me in their white shirts. It was kind of weird but really cool.

I was hoping to see some ghosts (or something)...but it was kinda like a big storm cloud going over...

Totality period is over here ( western PA)...clouds covered totatlity where I am, but it DID get dark, temp dropped, the peeper frogs came out and were screaming for about five minutes (by the pond in my yard....)
The beacon lights on commmunication towers on the mountains behind my house blink white during the day, and turn red at night...they turned red for a few minutes...my neighbors solar lights came on, and a bunch of young guys up the road were whooping it up even though we couldn't see the actual total time...
Very exciting!!! Glad I got to see it in my lifetime....
Hope everyone who wanted to take part got to see as much as they could!!!

@newjersey wrote:@proudlyfromNJ isn't it supposed to get dark as if it were nightime???
@newjersey I was just thinking the same thing. Maybe it's just cloudy at the moment.

We sat on the patio and watched it get like dusk--94 percent I think--then headed out for a grocery pickup.

@newjersey I'm not that far from you and it was not "dark" at all. That was only in certain parts of the country. You didn't miss anything lol

We were in the path of totality and I just came back in from being outside for over an hour. I wasn't all the excited about it before but after all is said and done, it was a neat experience.

The eye surgeons will have a field day all the idiots defying the odds and looking directly up.
I'll look at it thru the weather channel. LOL
Had cataract surgery and not gonna be blind woman
already waiting on a tooth extraction.
Like you, I am not going to view. Ever since I was a kid, I have worn glasses. Then as an adult I developed glaucoma and take drops for that. About twelve years ago, I had cataract surgery in both eyes. So, no, I do not want to risk any further damage to my eyes.
Others may enjoy; I just hope they follow the well-publicized cautions and have proper, special glasses for viewing this eclipse.
