All of a sudden, many news sites are requiring payment for reading articles. I can't help but wonder how this is going over. So far, I haven't signed up for any but I may.

@Noel7, There are several sites where I am asked to give a donation, which I do sometimes.

Hi @tansy
I've given a donation before but the new thing is you are not allowed to read a full article, or any on some, without signing up to pay.
Example: The Washington Post and Daily News. You get a couple of free articles a month but after that you have to sign up and pay.

No and then there are sites that want all your information before they will let you read the rest of the story.

Not so far, and I like to look at more than one slant, so I don't have any idea who I would pick

Yes, I've seen that @CelticCrafter I don't register with them, either.

There's a few sites that I visit that limit free articles to 10 per month, and then they want you to pay for a subscription, but that's easy enough to get around by just clearing the cache. Some, like the Wall Street Journal and Washington Post have been subscription only for as long as I can remember. I've not encountered any that were previously free that are now requiring subscriptions.

The Seattle Times is like that now. I’m allowed to read 10 free articles every month but now they’ve made it so that I have to take my ad blocker off in order to read those articles:/
Unfortunately, while I would like to support that newspaper, it is pretty expensive for online access.

I use google news ,as sort of a clearing house. I think they might be doing this because newspapers are falling by the wayside, and this is a chance to pick up more revenue
