I'd say the store owners got what they wanted in this instance, lots of publicity.

Not a New Yorker, but can certainly understand disliking her as an ambassador... Heck, I get disliking her. Period.

I don't understand the animosity toward Taylor Swift. What has she done wrong? Maybe someone will explain that to me.

Agreed. Although I think many of her songs sound the same to this old lady's ears, she has obvious appeal to the younger masses. And definitely a knack for succinct lyrics and catchy tunes.

As her song says the haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate and Im just just gonna shake shake shake, shake shake. Shake it off, shake it off!
So, I don't think she cares.lol.
I am not a fan of country music. But I did like some of her story telling tunes. But mostly I admire Taylor, she's brilliant and her album just sold over 1 mil in one week! I like her new tunes.
And shes from my original hometown in PA which also helps..lol.

The thing is there are many talented native New Yorkers who could do the same job Taylor Swift is doing.
I think she's lovely and seems to be a nice person but I do not think she is a good singer.
The graffiti was inappropriate.

I've heard that she writes most of her own songs (or possibly all of them). Also, just wondering if you have watched her (Taylor's) YouTube (official) video of her new song: "Shake it Off". Then, I ran across a You Tube 'spoof' version made by Kelly Ripa (and Michael S.), which is hilarious. Both worth watching, if you are interested.

I agree her country/pop songs sounded all the same to me as well. However, her new Rock album is completely different. Doesn't sound like Taylor Swift at all (to me anyway!)
Personally, I was never a fan of her music (my girls and grands are) but I really don't get the hate. So strange.
ETA : I did read the entire article before I made my comment #27

All of these years, I was one of the ones who always said that I wasn't fond of her music, etc., etc. And "What's the big deal, anyway?"............However, in the past year or so, I've been paying attention to her interviews, Taylor being a guest on various talk shows. She seems so level-headed, very grown up. I don't know her age, but she seems to be a fairly better role model for teens (in comparison with several/some other popular musical artists/singers/etc. now-a-days).

I actually like some of her songs. But...live...her voice is painful to listen too. IMO she can not sing.
