Why is it OK for the local kids to work beside their parents in the fields all the time, year after year.....but when the Braceros allowed their kids to work beside them it is bad and wrong?   See the slant?

You have no facts or experience on this subject,

No, it wasn't fair for Bracero children as young as five years old to work in the fields with no school to attend, no medical care and not enough food.

They were not the happy go lucky teenagers you claim to have been a part of who were treated to spirituals right out of an old movie on slavery that I recall seeing, and who then blew their earnings on hamburgers.

I'd appreciate it if you would STOP writing to me.  You keep doing that and then you complain if I respond.

Reporters and writers slanted the story.   The real story was not shown.

When the migrant workers came they had no home and slept in their trucks or cars with their family.   The farmers and ranchers let them use their barn, storage buidling, etc.   At least they had a roof over their head.  The ranchers paid for their water and lights also.

Did the farmers and ranchers get any credit for the help they gave by the writers?  No.

But that information would not get the protestors to come around would it.  The farmers and ranchers that helped them was written as bad humans.

Todays temp will be 79 with clouds to cool down the area.

I'm sure there were MANY different points of view on this situation.   Your opinion is not the only "correct" one ....  and I don't see why reporters would want to deliberately "slant" a story.   Providing an objective explanation is what they aim for, so why would they want to "slant" the facts?   Doesn't make any sense.

......................................................................................

For many years I hung out with the Editor of a News Paper.  Many times I would be at an event and the reporter wrote things that never happened.  I noticed this happening many times.   Also I have been invited to private first time showing of movies and TV programs by the higher ups, (was stated to be a true story) to get my opinion or understanding of the subject shown.    In BOTH cases they did not show or report facts.   I stated each time that the movie or TV program was lies and not showing facts.

In both cases I was told they had to add something to sell the story or movie because it would not sell to the public.

When you read or see something best to step back and think before you react to do something.

It sounds like you are saying that no ones take on reality is "real" except yours...perhaps you should examine that.. Perhaps this why you find yourself at odds with so many facts and situations?

It is 69 right now, at 11 am.  They predict temps of 94 today.  It says chance of T-storms.  The sky is covered white, so you never know.  The rest of the week is 90.  I can deal with that.  Better than 107

Hi shoekitty Smiley Happy

It's 61 here today and overcast, a welcome relief.  Sandhya Patel says next week will be lower temps than normal and this weekend may bring some showers from a clash of high ridge and a leftover storm from the lower Pacific.

There are major factual issues, too many to mention.  One being that there were no TV programs and news when the Bracero program began.

Oooops.

Noel,  Now I see YOU are now telling me to STOP writing to you.   I been telling you to STOP writing to me many times and you keep writing to me.   Geeesh  woman.

Good lets both not write to each other.

Besides I lived the event I am writing about ...while you got your information from writers with slants to sell the story, book or movie.

We seem to be forgetting ourselves. One post in perfect grammatical English and the next post back to persona.  Someone must really not have much to occupy them, despite frequent protestations to the contrary. LOL.

Think.....they had no baby sitters....they had to keep their kids beside them all day long working in the fields.    Many groups  of people do such things around the world to this day.

Re: Anyone else in Southern California melting?

Last night the Weather report said we might get rain in a few days.

That will be nice and will cool down everything.

You just told the same story about being interviewed as you did for your travels in space knowledge.

Only this time you made a serious error.  There were no televisions in homes when the Bracero program began in 1942.

And you have no idea where others got their knowledge. Please stop trying to engage, I've heard all your stories before.

Re: Anyone else in Southern California melting?

Years later the movies and books was written about those times.   And they slanted and added information to sell their items.
