Re: Anyone else feeling the loss of not being able to discuss politics?

No because this board was not created for political discussion.

Similarly, if I was on a political board, I would not be disappointed about the inability to discuss QVC products, hosts, and vendors.

I choose forums that suit my interests and have not found any where all my interests can be discussed in one place.

Not at all, politics & religion are private to me & I keep my opinions to myself on a public board.  It's bad enough stating an opinion over something trivial and being ripped..

Re: Anyone else feeling the loss of not being able to discuss politics?

From the beginning, these Q boards had a wide range of topics to discuss. That's one of the reasons I've been posting here from day 1. Unfortunately, from the man or woman on the street to the candidates themselves, the tone of discourse has been abysmally low. I have read a couple of those political boards. WOW! I'm never going back there. The hatred is palpable.

There are ways to discuss politics without being offensive. One of my best friends is a conservative Republican and I'm a progressive Democrat. So what? We can respect each other and find common ground on several issues, most notably that nothing gets done in this country anymore. If we can't talk to each other without personal attack and name-calling we're doomed, from this bulletin board all the way to Washington.

Re: Anyone else feeling the loss of not being able to discuss politics?

No. I use Facebook to discuss politics and I'm involved in several different political groups that meet in person every month. I'm also a volunteer voter deputy registrar in two counties near me. I have plenty of places to talk about politics and this place is one refuge from that. I don't want or need to talk about politics on what amounts to a department store website.

There are plenty of other places to talk about politics, so if you feel a loss, I would encourage you to seek them out and find what you need.

@faeriemoon, I understand what you are saying. In a perfect world, we would all be able to discuss politics like the adults we are without screaming invectives coming from either side. A real "discussion" would be nice. But it's never going to be that way on this board, so I guess I don't feel that loss.

That's what I meant @MaggieMack, a discussion, not a screaming match.  In spite of all the arguing, every once in a while we had some constructive discussions.

Thank you for getting what I meant.

I will admit to missing how active the forums used to be - so many diverse topics.

@faeriemoon, some of my favorite threads here have walked a fine line, with great ideas being presented from all sides. I have been forced to think outside my sometimes narrow little box, and I have enjoyed that. Then, poof! Someone has to come along and blow up a moving discussion with unnecessary words. I guess some people like blowing the discussion up more than they like contributing. Or maybe they fear a crack in their very established mindset.

Nope, I discuss that stuff elsewhere.

@MaggieMack  I agree with you 100%, and that's what I miss.

Re: Anyone else feeling the loss of not being able to discuss politics?

The board was definitely livelier, but it caused a lot of fights. I guess I miss the exchange of ideas, but too many people posted bogus information and didn't feel like it was their responsibility to back up their claims. I never understood that mentality. It's like arguing with a brick wall.
