Re: Anyone drive a Subaru Crosstrek?

I drive a Crosstrek. Great car. Only thing I wish it had was auto trunk

release. I always have my hands full with bags and then I have to put

my stuff down to lift open the trunk.

Re: Anyone drive a Subaru Crosstrek?

Don't have any experience with the Crosstrek, but my son just bought my grandson a Subaru Forester in September to take to college. He loves it and my son did lots of research on safety, etc. Last week, my grandson was rear-ended by an uninsured drunk driver...grandson was on a tollway service road. His Forester ended up with a slight ding on the bumper...the other guy's car was undriveable and he was taken to the hospital. We are so grateful my grandson was not hurt.

Re: Anyone drive a Subaru Crosstrek?

Not a Crosstrek owner, but I have driven Subaru Outbacks since 2001.  I live in the Northeast where road conditions can be very hazardous in the winter.  I have always felt secure in bad weather in my Outbacks.  So, I am another poster who would rate the Subaru line high up for safety and also good reliability and low maintenance.

Re: Anyone drive a Subaru Crosstrek?

I had a Subaru Outback, also.   I bought it used.   I loved the car.   Great ride, plenty of room, very safe and secure in snowy weather,   Mine was a stick sift.   Miss it a lot.

The parts can be pricey and you must find a mechanic who is knowledgeable in Subaru's.

Each model has its own quirks.   The Outback gas intake pie rusted out.   It has special wide tires.   When working on the engine the entire chassis has to lifted up at times.  And the very sad part it that it self destructs at 200,000 miles almost on the dot.   Mine was running perfectly with new tires and a new catalytic converter and my engine froze at 200,000 miles.   Had I only known.

Re: Anyone drive a Subaru Crosstrek?

Have had one since 2015.  "Limited" model.  Really great in New England winters with AWD and almost 9" of ground clearance.  Would highly recommend it.

Re: Anyone drive a Subaru Crosstrek?

I have had three Subarus since 1997 (I usually trade in when I reach 100,000 miles) My first two were Outbacks,  When I last purchased a car in 2014 I was looking for something smaller since I was no longer driving around both my kids and I was driving a lot for work and wanted the best gas mileage I could get.  I considered the Crosstrek but ended up purchasing an Impreza Sport hatchback.  I wish I had got the Crosstrek as the Impreza is really low to the ground and I am constantly scraping the front fender.  I don't drive very much any more and I am no where near reaching 100,000 miles in my current car but when I do purchase a new car I would consider the Crosstrek.

@Goldengate8361  I'm also looking for a new car in addition to  my 2007 Toyota Hybrid Highlander.

One thing I'm looking for is a quiet car with good seats. The Honda CRV Hybrid had terrible seats .....the salesman referred to the uncomfortalbe small seats as "anatomically correct" LOL - I have a big butt and my BF has no extra fat in that area.

I test drove a Hyundai Tuscon Hybrid a few days ago and loved it. They only had one on the lot and it was black ext/white int and several options I didn't want.

In the U. S.  News and World report car ranking, thhe Tuscon has replaced the Honday CRV and Toyota Rav 4 as the #1 small hybrid.  I also noticed the Honday just had a recall on the 2023 CRV due to issues with the seats.

US News has a car compare feature where you can compare 3 cars side by side.

Not a Crosstrek, but we bought a Subaru Forester Limited in November and love it. Our DD, DSIL, and DS all drive Subies too.

Re: Anyone drive a Subaru Crosstrek?

I have a Subaru Crosstrek 2018 and love it. We are Subaru lovers and have a Legacy 2019. Total we've owned 8 Subarus in various models between us and our son. The run like little tanks in bad weather so it's a safe car to drive if you have serious snow, etc. Maintaince is easy--not too much in repairs or replacement parts. I think for the $ you can't go wrong with a Subaru.

Did they change the seat size for the 2023?  I have a 2015 CRV and the seats are the most comfortable ones I've ever had in a car/suv.  I'm looking for a new car and am considering the new CRV and a few others.
