Yes, they did. There was a cartoon series in the 70's of them in highschool dating. Pebbles looked kind of like a cartoon Ann Margret.

I'll just throw in a picture for effect:

John, we may disagree (strongly) on some things, but I help my elderly neighbor take care of her sweet Boxer named Roxie - I love her! I didn't know how much I could care for a bigger dog (I used to have miniature poodles, now only cats) until I started taking care of Roxie when my neighbor has been in the hospital or nursing home. Don't know if you and your wife only foster Boxers, or other breeds as well, but that's a wonderful thing to do.
