Another typical delivery day from Amazon

We ordered a floor lamp through Amazon on Friday evening. I just checked.  It will be delivered on Sunday by 8 PM . We get more deliveries on Sunday then I don't know of anyone else.  It seems like every time we order (on Friday or even Saturday), it's on the porch by Sunday.  Last Sunday we found three packages from Amazon on the porch.  We happen to have Prime, but I'm not even sure if it's because of Prime.  Amazon will deliver it like magic.

@songbird lol   I don't think it's magic.  I think it's the millions of dollars they collect from Prime users like me who don't order much of anything during the year.

I did give up Prime after I realized how much each delivery cost me (about $11 each), but I get that it's a great deal for some of the millions who pay for a membership fee.  Now I just order and pay as I go along -  never seems to cost me what Prime would -  unless I start buying more stuff, but that just isn't where my head is right now.  Working hard to buy less.

Now I just wish the Prime members in my development would be more responsible for correct recycling all their boxes!

@songbird

It isn’t magic. It is Amazon. While they do go the extra mile for Prime members (hey, it is what we signed up for!) they do their best for no -Prime members, too. I remember that from before I had Prime & the good treatment I got then was a big part of why I became a Prime member.

I confess that I’d never have gotten Prime for the shipping benefits but it is a very nice perk. I got Prime because I had cut TV cable a few years before and had very poor reception even with an antenna. I got Prime for Prime Video and it has been work every penny. everything else is like a freebie perk.

Even when things go wrong (stuff happens), Amazon CS does everything they can to correct the problem and compensate for inconvenience. They take responsibility even for 3rd party companies. I’m a satisfied Prime member.

Faster shipping is a definate bonus of prime.   I have to really want something to order a nonprime item.  It rarely ships as fast.

I love Amazon,  I love Prime.     have to be careful and not order anything on Friday because we live in a condo and they don't leave packages.  Sunday is fun day and  we don't want to sit around and wait for a delivery.  Amazon really is like magic.

@willdob3  You may have just given me an idea I can use.  I've been dithering whether to reinstall cable in my summer apartment, but maybe I could just install the Internet (must have!) and use my computer and tablet plus Amazon Prime for info and entertainment.   I'd get a year of Prime even with their price increase for about 2 months of cable cost!

Will check into this idea soon, but I thank you so much for the idea!

Amazon is such a great company.  On a couple of occasions we have had to return items. There never has been a hassle.  They send a label and arrange for timely pick up and refund almost immediately.  We almost never get deliveries on weekends, except may-be during Christmas and not always in two days even though we do use Prime.  Must be the area where we live.  We don't mind the membership cost as postage and shipping is getting increasingly expensive.

Their fast delivery is not magic.  It happens because their employees work long hours under stress to make their daily quota.  If they can’t, they are fired.

So not true.  We have three Amazon Warehouses near where I live.  They employ a lot of people which is wonderful.

But they have been in trouble for their treatment of their employees more than once.
