@jlkz All too often, they just call using another number. I have nomorerobo installed and I report spam numbers.
Mostly, I just don't answer and they don't leave messages.
The worse time for calls was when I turned 65. The insurance companies kept calling. I would get about 20 calls a day. These calls are illegal. They are not allowed to call you unless they have your permission.....you requested info from them.
I get a few calls on my cell which I ignore. I never give out my cell number to anyone except family or friends. If you are not on my call list, I won't answer.
I wonder why I am getting spam calls in Spanish on my home phone. I can't understand Spanish at all. I can figure some Spanish out in writing, but not verbally.
Whoever it is, they are wasting their time by calling me.

Once I answered my desk phone at home and got the heartiest laugh yet: it was all in Chinese which I never studied !

@jlkz That's funny.
I had to call China a few times for work and they answer the phone saying Wei...or "way."
I panicked my first time and hung up. When I called back, I said hello...and thankfully, the person spoke english.
I have been to China and can greet people in their language. After that, I am lost.
Thankfully, a lot of people in China speak english, especially the younger folk.

I get so many unknown calls during the day that I have my phone set so only numbers in my contact list ring. Then I go and add the scam calls to my Hiya block list as well as blocking it on my phone.

Ok...... But if my phone said scam alert, I certainly would not have called the number. I don't understand that.
It was my cell phone as I noted and it said "Potential Scam" so I didn't answer. They left a vm so I listened and they said they were calling from Spectrum ( which is my phone service provider) I did not return the cell phone call, instead I called the Spectrum Customer service dept and the rep told me they don't call about this so called discount and she confirmed it was a Spam. So that's what I wanted to relay here so that others would be aware. In reading responses I see others have gotten this same spam call. My landline is set to only allow calls that I have approved come through. I'm going to set my cell phone the same way.
