There have been many who have fallen from cliffs, bridges, to retrieve dropped cell phones. Thoughtlessly going after a ball seems a common misjudgment.

Re: Another Kennedy Tragedy

[ Edited ]

We tend to forget that they have an extremely large extended family and also that their incidents are more publicized because of their fame.

@NYC Susan I couldn't agree more, to say that about the late President Kennedy is appalling. To go after the entire family regarding deaths in their family, well I just don't get it. Hopefully it has nothing to do with the p word, who knows.

Lately things seems to have reached a new level around here. It absolutely coincides with the virus and people being at home so much. Don't know if that's the only reason. To me frankly it's just gross, for lack of a better word.

@Greeneyedlady21  I posted about some bad decisions made by some of the Kennedys.  To assume that that is about the "P" word is offensive to me.  If we can't talk about it, would that because of the p word as well?

My comment does not mean I do not have sympathy for the family and others close to them, but I am making a comment on many ill-made decisions that have caused a lot of deaths, pain and suffering among the Kennedys.  It is well known, documented and has been discussed openly for a very long time.

It is part of the story of the family.  It is part of their history, and to ignore it or act as if it doesn't exist makes no sense at all.  History is history.  Public people are public people and people will talk about them and what they do.  I didn't cause it, but I don't feel compelled to not talk about what is public knowledge either.

I just don't get the need to talk about it when two family members have just died, and there are people here even criticizing the decision to go into a boat to retrieve a ball. There were even people who implied that perhaps something nefarious happened.

Just don't get it at all. Lots of other prominent families in this country have made very poor life decisions, I don't see them being raked over the coals here. In general raking people over the coals is like a hobby and sport for some people here. That's obvious. It's no longer a place I find to be enjoyable.

@Greeneyedlady21 I don't see saying someone made a poor decision as raking someone over the coals.  I see it as people expressing a thought or opinion.

It's a fact: it was a poor decision.  I'm sure it wasn't intended to turn out that way, but turns out it was a poor decision.  You can't argue that.  Are we just supposed to shut up and never express a thought?  Or talk about only certain people?  Are some beyond being discussed?

You seem to be very closely involved with this and upset about it.  If you are close to the family I am sorry for your distress at this.  Truly I am sorry you are upset.
