I've had the same cleaning person weekly since we moved here 16 years ago. A couple years ago she also started working for my daughter and family.
My daughter just texted me that she has put her on paid leave for two weeks due to the virus. Her thinking is that this person has an extended family and many clients and might unwittingly transmit the virus.
My daughter is urging us to do the same (we are in the vulnerable group). She thinks that it is an unnecessary chance to take to have her work for us right now.
Your thoughts.

Your daughter is a very kind and intelligent woman.

I think your daughter is very smart and considerate to do this.
For everyone concerned.

I'm not planning on cancelling my cleaning ladies (I have two that work together). Mine come every four weeks. I'm planning on limiting what I do with large gatherings but not my housecleaners. You know your own situation though.

I think it is a very sensible thing to do, we all need to look out for one another as well as ourselves.

I certainly understand why your daughter did this. I don't know if anyone knows the right thing to do in these types of situations.
Do what you are comfortable with keeping in mind that her cleaning will be in every single room, and almost all of the surfaces if she is cleaning correctly. It's a tough call for sure. 🤷♀️

The housekeeper could be like a 'Typhoid Mary'. I would cancel services.

Great thinking by your daughter. And so kind of her to pay her while she is off.
I'd follow her advice.
My mom is 84 and has slight health issues that have made me shut down all her outside exposure except me for right now (she lives next door to me).
It just doesn't seem like the time to take unnecessary risks for things like this.

I agree with your daughter, especially because you are in the vulnerable group.
It's a delicate situation to explain to the housekeeper, but I'm sure you'd handle it perfectly.
This is another example of hardworking people who are going to be impacted by this. Good people like your daughter will pay, I don't think everyone would do that.

@suzyQ3 I'm aware that many people clean before the cleaning crew arrives, but in this case, you would probably want to clean after they come! You might as well just take care of the chores yourself. Very nice of your daughter to pay during the hiatus. The clients who do this, will be sure to have them come back to work, when the virus is no longer a threat
