IF you're talking about the HPV vaccine..........your son was NEVER at risk of dying from it.........no male is.......they are at risk of spreading it..........their treatment also consists of a swap of iodine and alcohol.....a wart on males private part does not put him at any more risk then a wart on his foot.....it's females who are at risk..........BTW, he can still receive the vaccination........HPV is not age specific..............................raven

Gardasil is just for young adults...

firstly............penile cancer is rare, it occurs in 1/100,000...and the highest rates are in South America and Africa.......and it's only recently been linked to HPV-16...........the vaccine "for cancer" you talk about isn't even for males, it's for females ONLY....................................raven

I think you might be a little confused. It is for both young girls and boys...

no........maybe you are.............. A vaccine called Gardasil is available in the U.S. to protect girls and women against certain HPV infections. It is not approved for men.

Re: An Interesting Point of View

Gardisal can be given in men from 15-26, I believe.

Gardisil 9 can be given in boys 9-15.

We now have a vaccine that prevents cancers.

Why wouldn't people want to protect their precious children????

I know that it is voluntary - but I don't see why people wouldn't get it done.

A lot of people are not opting for that particular vaccine, imo it's has not around long enough to be deemed safe. No lectures please.........

no lectures Syd..............I happen to agree with you...................................raven

No lectures...but why would you think that a vaccine would be released for use if it hadn't been thoroughly tested first?

Because it hasn't been around long enough to withstand the test of time that's why.

Re: An Interesting Point of View

A few weeks back when vaccinations were a HOT topic, our talk radio had a very interesting topic one day ...... it went like this .......

"If your un-vaccinated child gives my baby a preventable disease and they die, are you criminally liable for her death .... and / or can you be sued for my child's death? ... "

Good question. {#emotions_dlg.unsure}

Re: An Interesting Point of View

How could you ever prove if somebody else's child infected your child?

After all, the infectious window usually occurs before symptoms, correct?

And unless the two children were placed together 24/7 before the infected child presented symptoms, you would be hard pressed to not consider any unvaccinated child could have cause this.

No, and no to both questions under our current legal system.

Marmalade, I might come off as a little defensive but in an earlier conversation about this topic I was deemed an uncaring, selfish, ill-informed and irresponsible parent from......get this, (supposedly) a nurse. So far this particular conversation is quite civil.
