No vaccine is 100% safe. Surely, you must know that.

That's true. But I take my chances every year with flu shots, my tetanus shots are up to date and I had all the childhood vaccinations available in the 50s and 60s.

A vaccine that can prevent cancer is wonderful. I wish it was available when my son was younger.

Thank goodness for personal choice. It's a wonderful thing, isn't it?

Those squawking the loudest haven't even received a Measles vaccine. If you were born after 1957 you should.

You expect everyone to vaccine their children but you can get Measles and spread it too!

IF you're talking about the HPV vaccine..........your son was NEVER at risk of dying from it.........no male is.......they are at risk of spreading it..........their treatment also consists of a swap of iodine and alcohol.....a wart on males private part does not put him at any more risk then a wart on his foot.....it's females who are at risk..........BTW, he can still receive the vaccination........HPV is not age specific..............................raven

Men are at risk with penile cancer...or getting oral or throat cancer from their partner.

Even if he wasn't directly at risk, I certainly wouldn't want him to pass it on to a partner.

No speeches about saving yourself for marriage!

firstly............penile cancer is rare, it occurs in 1/100,000...and the highest rates are in South America and Africa.......and it's only recently been linked to HPV-16...........the vaccine "for cancer" you talk about isn't even for males, it's for females ONLY....................................raven

NO, I haven't had the vaccine. It wasn't available. Instead, I HAD and was very ill from the Measles AND the chicken pox. Fortunately, Mumps evaded me. If I were told now that I still should have the vaccine, I would get it. When I first started teaching, there were no vaccines for those diseases. We had epidemics at times at the school. Then, there were vaccines, and suddenly there were NO cases of mumps, measles, chicken pox. As a student myself, I went through all my schooling with no cases of whooping cough, diphtheria, smallpox, etc., for all of which we were innoculated. Coincidence??? I think not.

I think you might be a little confused. It is for both young girls and boys...
