Re: An Important Update???

[ Edited ]

It always comes to a business decision. I am sure they have looked at the forums and how many people are signed up and how often people post and if the posters actually purchase.. Probably decided that it is not profitable to keep the forums open especially when they are often used to complain about the hosts, vendors, shipping, cost, quality, refunds  and on and on.  And how many time recently have we seen posts poofed because they are in violation of the rules?

I will miss checking in everyday but honestly I can understand why they may have made this decision. But no I will not join the I Love QVC Facebook group or whatever it is called.

Re: An Important Update???

Not on the top of my Forum.

I guess a bad day to announce since I think Facebook is/was down.

And one day after 60 minutes runs a story about how toxic facebook is.

I am not on facebook, so I won't be posting if they close the forums.

Will be a good time to end my patronage of QVC when this happens

@HB glamma I don't watch QVC, and if it were not for things I see on the boards and think of, I would never order anything from QVC.

Their programming is totally of no interest to me, so what I buy is what I see here.

@Sooner

That's pretty much how it is for me, too.

I find it so disingenuous for QVC to state that connecting with their community is everything to them. If it were actually true they would not be eliminating the forums.

I find a massive disconnect in their reasoning if they actually believe everyone will just follow lemming style to Facebook. Just shows how little they actually know of much of their audience.

Of all times for them to ditch the forums. Yeah, do it during the holidays, with an ongoing pandemic. How thoughtful!

This lack of customer consideration does NOT speak well of those making such a decision from the top.

I will not join Facebook. I detest it. So, it will be over for me here. When the forums close, I will also take down my shopping profile and will be done with it all. I will shop elsewhere and never look back at QVC.

It's been a pleasure to have met and shared information with so many wonderful folks here. Best to all of you.

I left some info about how to get in touch on another thread. A thread on which I've conversed with people on and off for a decade.
Someone reported it and my short post was removed.
This is the way some play here. How will they play on FB?
Shame.

Although I don't post often, I enjoy coming here to read. I would definitely miss "seeing" everyone each day.

I have gone over to a place on Delphiforums . com called Wisteria Lane. The forum has a nice bunch of people, and they post the TSV's for both QVC and HSN. They also have daily threads with lots of interesting information.  I believe they've been around since 2008.

The host of the forum seems very nice, so maybe we could ask if they would be open to changing some of the folders to more closely resemble the boards here at QVC.

It is a free site, and when you register, you choose a nickname, so your real information is never displayed.

Once you register, you never have to post if you don't want to, but you are able to read all of the messages posted.

If you go to the main page at Delphiforums . com and enter Wisteria Lane in the search bar, you can find the forum.

I do not have a Facebook account, nor do I intend to have one, so this is a nice alternative for me.

I hope people from these boards go over to that forum.  It would be a nice way for everyone to still post and keep in touch.

I have no affiliation with that forum, I just think it's a cool place to hang out.

Thank you for this information @undertheradar .  I for one will definitely check out the site you mentioned.

I'd also like to start a separate thread suggesting it so that more people on these forums will see it.  Would that be ok with you, if I don't mention your nickname, just say that a poster suggested this and I'm going to try it out?  I think many of us are looking for a place to land when these forums go away.

Yes @undertheradar,

I thank you too!

I also think it is perhaps a view of newer/younger management that the elderly don't really count.  And that a lot of us are elderly, so go ahead and wipe it out.  It's just old people.

I really wonder what percentage of young folks shop at QVC.   I could be totally off-base, but I feel like it's probably pretty small.  I would be pretty shocked if the younger audience is tuning in, in big numbers at all.

Right, and younger people don't even use Facebook as much anymore.

I try to keep up with what's going on in the world terms of social media use, even though I don't personally use it myself.

However, I think that the latest trend is for people to use Tik Tok and Instagram, if I'm not mistaken. Facebook isn't so much the latest trend anymore with younger people, from what I understand, too.

Shame.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it will be worse.  People have said for a long time that if you aren't posting things that are glowingly positive they will just delete it.  It's not like a board so you don't have forums and threads.  It's just a long row of posts that go on and on.

Hard to imagine thousands of people trying to have any kind of conversation.  But then, it looks like they don't want that.  SMH

This is terrible news. I don't use Facebook.

What if QVC gave the Forums an item number and charged $2.00 a month for access?

How many people do you think would sign up?

@PickyPicky3

Now that's an interesting idea.  Wonder if QVC would go for that?  You're definitely a creative problem solver! Why not post that in the QVC Suggestion Box?

@shoesnbags ,

And the moderators would be?  Volunteers maybe.
