I am a QVC customer. I started watching QVC well before web sites and shopping online. I still perceive QVC as a shopping channel on television, not a website. I have limited opportunities to shop in a store with a door. I rely on models to show me the clothing and how it looks on a body. I need demonstrations on how to set up my new air fryer. I need information from a well prepared host and a knowledgeable vendor.
I am not a shop online person. Flat images on a screen mean no more to me than the glossy pictures in my Neiman's monthly catalogs or my seasonal Spiegal one did back in the day. Shopping was a social experience to be enjoyed. Television allows for some of that experience. A website is work and not relaxing. I watch the items that are on air. When I decide to order I go to my computer, bring up items recently on air, and buy. QVC may think I was shopping online, but no, I was shopping on television. Many older shoppers and others without computers use the phone service to place their orders, but it seems to have been scaled back.
I am old. The core customers of QVC are not young. They are people who are in their homes whether by choice or circumstance. Some are lonely. Some are bored. Some are looking for new ideas. I suspect the fifty and over crowd is the large majority of the QVC market with only a small demographic on the younger side. There will always be those of us who need TV to bring shopping to us. When we are gone, a new group will age into our place.
At best QVC needs to realize its market position and to serve its market share. The now cancelled forum boards were part of that service.

QVC probably doesn't care about us. We represent just a fraction of their customers. The Forum also has additional operating costs that QVC must cover. For me personally, I have made many purchases from QVC as a result of conversations I've had on the board.

I agree that QVC attracts on older demographic, 50+ I would guess. But I do shop from the website and not from the TV. Cannot stand to watch the endless presentations of a simple item and the endless babble. I check what's been on the air and if an item interests me then I'll watch the video. Personally, I wouldn't care if QVC just became a website only. I shop from many other websites without a problem.
JMHO!!!

@Mindy D , Yes, I have made several purchases after reading on these forums about fashions and actually battery cases! I have found Logo sweaters that were so new they weren't even offered yet thanks to a poster, also bought some questionable (to me) clothing that were posted as being great (Aran Craft sweathers - I bought 2 at over $100 each). I would have never spent the money if I was only looking at the product presentation. QVC reviews are not a part of my decision, so many people comment on items without actually owning them, so I can't consider them. And yes, I never did buy the battery case because they were hard to fit some batteries in their spaces.

I am a Q customer. My needs are probably different than someone else's. I don't watch TV, I don't watch the programs. I don't need to hear about aunt Jenny, grandma, Uncle Sam or happy dances any of that stuff. I don't need to see the food squished to know if I want to purchase it or not. I watch the clips and fast forward through all the stuff I don't care about. I just want the measurements, colors, etc. I have made a lot of purchases and found a lot of brands thanks to this forum. I also do searches on here to find recommendations.

Makes you wonder if anyone has ever studied a correlation between when I item has been mentioned on the forums to the amount of sales of that item that day.
I, like so many others here have stated, have made numerous purchases after a fellow poster has discussed an item.

There have been a lot of times, over the years, when somebody mentioned a product here and if you didn't get to it quick it sold out.
I think this board generates a lot of sales. OTOH, as Mindy said, we are probably a pretty small percentage of the over all buying audience.
I used to buy a ton. Then I had to back off (well, plus at some point you have pretty much everything! heh) and don't buy that much anymore. But I've gotten a ton of ideas from reading on this board and really have purchased many items I read about here. When you really don't watch the channel that much, if at all, here is where you hear about many products.

Me too Mindy! I spend thousands here each year. A lot has been through suggestions and recommendations because of the forum.
Oh well I can easily shop elsewhere....Amazon has much faster shipping.

If I'm on the fence about buying an item I come to these boards to read what others have written. I don't trust the reviews on their site as much as what all of you share. Without this valuable information, I will no longer support this company.
