Re: An Emotional Jolt on Veterans Day

SapphireGal, you are blessed to be associated with a long line of genuine patriots.  I am sorry that your son lost his life in defense of our freedoms.  May his soul rest in peace.

@Lucky Charm,

That story has me in tears too.

I'm so sorry for all who have lost someone so precious and irreplaceable-a son, a husband, brothers, sisters.

All of them heros.

@golding76  After reading your beautiful post, it made me think that the lady you wrote about probably considered herself lucky too because she got to experience your friendship.

Kind people like the 2 of you, when you are together, the people around both of you also benefit.

Your post was sweet and your kindness showed through.

I very much enjoyed reading it.

Thank you for taking the time to post it.

Fondly, Annabelle/Linda😘

Re: An Emotional Jolt on Veterans Day

@golding76  When we are young and starting our lives, whether finishing college, starting a new job, or moving to a new area, angels come into our lives to help us.  Too often, we do not keep up with these angels.  Young people do not give a thought to those who have helped because they are busy with their own new lives.  That is why we get the opportunity to pay it forward.  We get to be the angels.  Your friend had lost her son, but she had the opportunity to treat you like a daughter in some respect.  How wonderful that you had that opportunity to be a part of her life.  Rejoice in that and continue to pay it forward.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

Re: An Emotional Jolt on Veterans Day

SXMGirl, only now did I read your text, and I must have felt your thoughts through the mystery of the universe.  Why?  I went to bed last night and woke up this morning wondering about why the kindness of this gracious woman became so much clearer to me in my advanced years.  My conclusion was the same as yours: as a young person, I was caught up in my life and the excitement of the next step of my life.

Not only did I marry for the first time but the marriage tragically imploded within the first few months.  And then I was off to Europe for six months to "find myself," as we used to say.  I primarily sought a job in Italy, but that did not work out.

Thank you for your thoughts today.  I could not agree more.  Yes, these are angels who do come into our lives at different times of need.  They are blessings.
