The next gen after boomers were the Gen Xers.

The term yuppie first came into use in the early 80s to describe people in their late twenties and thirties. These would hardly be Gen Xers, as they would still.have been in elementary school and high school.

The term existed through the 90s, when the yuppies reached into their forties. Again, not Gen Xers.

So yes, the yuppies were boomers.

Ok but they were later boomers than my age boomers. The term was used from 1947 for quite a while later, like those born in 1960.

And my grandchildren are called "millennials."

Yuppie Dinks = Young Urban Professionals, Dual Income No Kids.

That term applies to anyone, boomers or not. BTW, Boomers were born until 1965.

Re: Americans are just spoiled!

herekitty, I see what you are saying but in all fairness, I truly believe that IF a person has been blessed with much, they should be able to determine who and what they can use that money on, without anyone determining that for them. Yes, God blesses us and all He asks is that we bless others with it too. He never, ever said how we had to do it, just do it for others. So that way, everyone gets blessed because He doesn't see people as legal, illegal, free, slave, male, female, Jew, Greek, etc. He sees all as His children. Even animals are His so many see fit to give to animals. Everywhere its written, do unto others as has been done to you. So the "ours, theirs" isn't a factor for Him and shouldn't be a factor for us, as His children, either.

Sure, I'm aware that technically the boom didn't end until 1965. I should have been more specific--we who were born from 1946-1955, the teenagers and young adults of the 1960's, were what are sometimes called True Boomers, or Leading Edge Boomers, and certainly saw the world through a different lens than someone born in 1965. Yuppies would have come after us--the first wave. Therefore---I'd rather be a hippie than a yuppie! So there!Wink

It's now an era of give me what I want - not what I need. You were raised in an era that provided for your needs and not necessarily for your wants. What did you really want as a child raised in your home? Most of us just wanted love.

That's your opinion and no "and" to mine.
