The point is - there are a lot of people who are incapable of working hard or who are incapable of even understanding that is necessary to succeed. They just don't have any of the necessary tools.

I have never seen that program but if you can afford it why not. You can say the same for QVC and the other shopping networks. Clothes that are over priced because they have a famous name attached. Also I don't need or want expensive handbags.

I was browsing through houzz.com looking at photo ideas just the other day and came across a rather short . . . beautifully tiled shower . . . about 4' high, maybe 4' across in length and not sure as to how far of depth from side to side . . . beautiful shelves up above . . . nice hand held shower nozzle mounted on the wall . . . walk in / step in where you'd have to step up maybe 6" or higher . . . and it was a DOG BATH. I was like whoa, that is NICE . . . from the surrounding area looks like it was maybe part of a larger mud / laundry / dog bath room.

Hey . . . so what IF the people are "spoiled" in some peoples opinion . . . they worked for it and they paid or are paying for it. One of those MYOB type things . . . Let Freedom Ring!!!

What you're mentioning above is called 'life'. S*** happens and it's unfair, but no one ever said life is fair but that's no reason for anyone born in this country to carry a "guilt" stamp around on their forehead the way you must be doing. No one here needs a lecture from you about anything.

I live in a city, Buffalo NY, by choice.

I live 2 miles - about 3 minutes drive, from the downtown business district. We live near a park designed by America's most famous landscape designer, Frederick Law Olmstead. I'm also 3 miles or so away from Lake Erie and it's marinas. There are plenty of housing options in my neighborhood too. I live near a large 5 story NYC style apartment building. Many medical students and professionals rent there for it's proximity to their work. Houses and condos on my block have been selling recently for anywhere from $250,000 (small condos) to 2 million (large 6,000 SQ.+ homes).

This is dinky Buffalo - not Brooklyn or Manhattan or somewhere trendy to live!

There has been a revival all over American in urban living. People like the culture, the entertainment options, the excitement & diversity of city living.

Urban living isn't for everyone, anymore than suburban or country living suits everyone either.

How do you mange that Buffalo Snow

I agree with you, urban living certainly doesn't have to mean squalor. It can, but, I've also seen some horrendous living conditions, in rural areas.

I live in a mid-sized city and enjoy urban living. While it's fun to get out of town now and then, I would definitely never choose to live in the country or a small town. I like the options, the conveniences and the energy of a city!

Sure, I'm aware that technically the boom didn't end until 1965. I should have been more specific--we who were born from 1946-1955, the teenagers and young adults of the 1960's, were what are sometimes called True Boomers, or Leading Edge Boomers, and certainly saw the world through a different lens than someone born in 1965. Yuppies would have come after us--the first wave. Therefore---I'd rather be a hippie than a yuppie! So there!
