@chickenbutt  What is the phone number to call Amazon about a problem? I have needed to call and it seems I can never find a phone number.  Thanks so much!

I just use the 'call me' tool they have.    You go through your orders following 'contact us' or 'help' and then at some point you get a screen where you put in your phone number and click on 'call me now'.  It calls you IMMEDIATELY and you get a person pretty quickly.

I just followed that to see if it also gave a phone number and it didn't.  I find this is the best way to go.

But if you want to call them, this might work. I just Googled 'Amazon customer service' and this number came up -

I know!  As soon as the return gets scanned by UPS, they start processing the refund.  Love Amazon.

The only thing about them that really irriitates me is the pricing game they play.  I can order something one day and get a good price. Two days later, after it's delivered, I decide I want to order a second "one."  I see the price has gone up.

If I really want it, I pay the difference, but I'm really bugged.  If I decide to watch and wait, sometimes the price comes down and sometimes the price goes higher.  Life is too busy for games.

But that's what happens in grocery store, department stores, at the gas station too.

I buy something today, and next week it's at a lower price.

I don't see how what Amazon does is any different than that.

They use pricing algorithms.  Jet does the same thing.

That's the seller, not Amazon (even though it may be "Fulfilled by Amazon"). It's supply and demand. When an item isn't selling the price goes down. If 1-2 people buy it and their stock goes down, they'll raise the price. Most of the smaller items I buy or have on "Save for Later" go up/down less than $5; that doesn't bother me.

They don't advertise or encourage it but sometimes if you call them they'll give you the price break. I would never bother for a few dollars, but once I bought something (forget what) and within 3-4 days the price dropped $40. I called; they took $40 off for me.

@Moonchilde it is Amazon.  If Amazon fulfills the order, they are handling the financial aspect of the transaction.  Even when it is not sold by a vendor, but rather Amazon alone they do this.  The minute it's scanned they begin processing your refund.

@Karie2022 yes they do.  Depends on why you give a reason for the return when you go online and begin the return process.  There is a drop down menu for you to input why you are returning the item.

@makena yes, they have forums.

And have been steadily trying to "kill" them for at least 2-3 years by removing features and hiding them. At this point they aren't really searchable as a list of forums, or with a gateway address, unless you know where they are or have bookmarked them. One forum was completely axed a few years ago. Two others - Politics and Religion, as you might imagine - are a combination of absolute acid and chaos.

They have taken a different tack than QVC. Rather than have moderation that's as hands-on daily as QVC's, Amazon is choosing to make their forums mechanically non-functional and "hidden." Most very long-time users are sure they will all just go buh-byee at some point.

I have had mostly stellar customer service from Amazon, but the one time I had a bad experience, it involved a refund.  It was unfortunate timing, because after I mailed the item back to Amazon, but before they received it, the credit card I had used for the purchase discovered fraudulent activity on the account and inactivated the card/issued a new one.  As soon as they notified me, I notified Amazon, and I will say that ultimately I did get the refund I was due...but it took several weeks and multiple, increasingly frustrating interactions with Amazon CS to make that happen.  It gave me the impression that Amazon CS does great (fantastically, even) with normal, run-of-the-mill transactions, but more complex scenarios can throw them for a loop.

@Karie2022  Also if your return reduces your total purchase to below the free shipping standard then you might be charged for the item being returned.

Don't forget about "add on items", too.  They do not count toward the free shipping minimum.
